As with all things use lube!!! I ended up settling with Mobil 1 synthetic all purpose grease I put it on all the bushings isolator and bearings. BTW I ordered my bearings from summit.

Yea I got my bearings from summit. Still need a few little parts yet. But my rear sleeves are 2+ weeks out so I got time

So I started hacking up a strut.

Heres a simple little mount we made. Just a 2X6 shoved in where the strut slides on the spindle. Then a single bolt and nut to keep it from getting cray cray. This simple mount works extremely well. Can turn the strut basically every which way you need to work on it.

And some cuttin. Seriously, this is nerve racking as **** cutting up strut.

About an hour later after grinding down the plate at the very top of the strut and takin off most of the spring perch.

I'm scared and I cut out little pieces and take my time. I'd rather go slow and have everything go smooh opposed to rushing and ruining a brand new strut.

I didn't mean hacking off the seat for coilovers or something like that.

Only done two of those.

I meant purposely destroying the shock.

Thought you were getting at the hazard warning typically stamped all over the things against cutting them.

To be honest, I'm not sure how they're going to be able to cope with the high spring rate. So you might be in for another set shortly, or perhaps something more suited to the task at hand.

What spring rate did you go with?

400 up front and 350 out back. When these blow ill prob do the SHO Koni inserts

I really hate my Koni Sports.

The adjustment doesn't do much, and they lack a lot of low speed damping.

And the only one who can valve them for the most part is Koni.

The other thing to be aware of is they are "mostly" single adjustable. Meaning the adjustment mostly adjusts rebound. Compression won't change much. So if you crank them up, the car jacks down, and you have a bad time.

I can't say for certain how the SHO inserts will fair with those springs. All of the math is there for the spring selection side, pick a CPS, motion ratio is near 1 as per CGP. Damping rate will be a lot more tricky to get details on.

Well I previously had a set of 400/350 springs, although they weren't coilovers and they weren't nearly as low as I will be this time around.

Anyway. I didn't think they rode they bad and the car handled decent.

I've seen the thread on CGP with the formulas for the wheel rate and frequency and that fun stuff. But I'm honestly not getting that far into it. I'm not autocrossing. Merely just lowering with the luxury of being able to adjust the height.

But say I was to get more serious in the future, where does a guy get struts revalved to accommodate a stiffer spring?

And is there something else you recommend besides the Koni's?

Bilsteins hands down these things are a step above the Joni
