Kept up with a 98 Corvette

Well after work today my coworker at work asked me to show him the mods I had done to my 05 GP since he knew I had been working on it for a while . So I pop the hood open and showed him the 3.5 " MPS system , Open Cone, Headers and PCM I had installed. He asked " is it fast?" well I was like well one way to find out . he hops on the passenger side and off we go . I take highway and in front of me is a corvette from what it seems was like a 97-98 convertible. I figured he saw me from his rear view mirror since he gunned it as soon as the light turned green. I was using my Tap-shift so I also gunned it up the the ramp into the highway . he puts about 2 cars on me he changes to the left lane and im still on the far right knowing I had to merge left ASAP . I pass a a car in front of me through the right and then I merged to the left the corvette was besides me , at this rate I had hit about 100 mph the corvette began to slow down I was still gunning it I was in 4th gear going like 115 mph the corvette had slowed down and now it was my time to look through the rear view mirror. My coworker was like "holy crap, you kept up with a corvette!" lol sure I did . It was such an adrenaline rush and I know it was a bit foolish to be doing this in traffic but it was worth it . Im not saying it was a kill but that corvette owner was probably like ooh crap that car kept up with me.;)

Yea the corvette owner was an older guy , he realized I wasnt going to let down so he did lol.I cant really call it a kill since he let out the gas. I know it was probably unsafe especially having my coworker with me . My coworker wants to see what I would run in the 1/4 mile so I may have to head to the speedway one of these days.

I'm not trying to crap on your thread, but, the C5 is a 350HP (stock), lighter and RWD car, potentially with a 6 spd trans.

It wouldn't be close if all was right.

Sounds like a swell time though. You will have some swagger at work now.

it literally doesnt even matter if you won or not...you get props for keepin up with a vette at work, even though the guy probably wasnt racing fully lol
 


I know it wasnt a kill or a won , the corvette guy knew I wasnt gonna let go , he decided to not to continue and I decided to blow past him :)
 
Coworker was impressed ! he was the one saying " cant believe you kept up with a corvette" . As for the corvette driver , if you want to gun it and show off why not me right?
 
he didnt need to show off cuz hes in a vette and youre in a grand prix LOL plus apparently you were in traffic so thats probably why he didnt do much more
