Just got car now knocking

I always leave that off but I believe it bolts to the head and the manifold? I just put the dogbone bolts thought the chain into the side of the head to hoist

Ok so I don't need that second bracket that goes beside the other small bracket I the rear head?

looks good, when its off the stand and on a chain in the air, loosen the front plog and put the crossover pipe in, then install it.

oh, theres a short harness for the rear knock sensor, make sure thats plugged in before you drop the engine in. its no fun to put on after the fact.

Looks good, Ya that's where the brackets go.

You should reloom or tape up the icm harness, I can see exposed wires near the water pump. And make sure everything on the harness is plugged in too. I always put my spark plugs in before putting in too but that might just be me

Ok I wasn't sure if I had routed the wiring under there right. I'll cover it up

Ok after finding motivation to finish up the car I finally got it running today. Have exhaust leak at the rear manifold connecting to the downpipe and also leak at the crossover pipe towards the rear. Also seen smoke coming from plog connection to crossover pipe. Shouldn't there be a gasket there out on all three connections? Just wanted to make sure. I know I'm missing atleast two. Also since I'm basically top swapped now, how many of degrees of timing do I pull? I have hptuners. This is on my 05 gtp just to refresh memory

There is a gasket between the rear manifold and the downpipe. It's a metal crush bent gasket. You can use copper rtv instead if you want. The gasket is a one time use only.

The rear of the crossover has a donut gasket that's needed.

I'm not remembering any gasket at all in the front.

You are probably going to need to pull 4-5° of timing to keep the knock down.

find your self a gtp hpt file from 97-03, copy the timing over, then drop it one degree wot. that would be about 14º wot. works good for top swaps. watch for kr, add one degree at a time till you see kr and back it off. unless you get kr right off the bat, then drop it one more.
