JDrach's 98 Daytona - Snappin chains 4 days

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

Im gonna try and see if the cat makes a difference. wasnt this bad before the headers

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

The cat wont make much difference, because if you bought a high flow unit it basically does nothing.

Get a better res, or just enjoy the crappy 3800 exhaust tone when you romp on it.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

That's why I dont want a high flow catalytic converter. Trying to find a regular one but cant find one. If that doesn't help I'm messing with the resonator next, prolly a big glass pack to silence it up. It's weird, right after i shift into 3rd around 30mph, the exhaust tone drops even lower into a bogging growl sound until i speed up. I don't know why.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

Lol no I mean it was like that after the header install. I just believe its the lack of cat

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

Got my front calipers finished painted. The calipers are red and the bracket is black. Still have to do the back half. Getting those suckers remotely clean was really tough. Used a bit of sand paper and a powered drill with a wire brush attachement. Then 3-4 coats to get them as well covered as possible then used 2 coats of clear coat. For the back half, I'm just going to do all red. Hopefully they dont fade or chip too fast. Will post pics Wednesday when I get them finished.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

Forgot to update on the calipers. Painted them red, front brackets black. Decided to take some pictures a couple weeks ago on top of my schools parking garage.

Then I was driving to work this past Saturday, heard a low growl grinding noise. Was curious so I turned off the music and air and listened. Then a couple miles later, as soon as I pull into my works dealership lot, i start braking and it makes the loudest grinding noise. At first i thought I blew a tire or i cut something stuck in the wheel well at it was grinding the tire/rim. Turns out one of the bolts for the bracket fell off the caliper. Thank goodness the brake caliper didn't fall off completely until the parking lot, and I was able to get to the back garage where I park for work. Ended up fixing it during my lunch break, only a temp fix. I ordered the correct bolt from my dealership. The inside of my rim is all scrapped up now, including my caliper; some paint came off too.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

Theres also a super nice, clean WS9 Formula 1 Firebird that was traded in last week at my dealership. Saw the salesman drive it back, and asked if it was his. He said no, but the guy was thinking about trading it in if he couldnt sell it himself. Guy ended up trading it in and now every day I come in I have to drive past it in saddness. Such a nice, garage kept LS1 beauty that's show room new conditioned. Here's the link USED 2001 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM Ws 9 #DB10115B | Schepel Auto Group

Took a picture last weekend while my car warmed up. Left my car at work and picked it up later, couldnt help but to go and admire it. Only took one picture though. It has magnaflow tips, and it sounds mean, so i guess it may have magnaflow exhaust.

I'd love to get it and join the third floor crew that parks next to me before I leave for the day :)

The black one is a nice, possibly stock, clean black WS6. I love it. The beige is modded deffinately. His plate either says I wouldn't or Your Losing (within the 7 char limit, either of those because I know a louder than a jackhammer vette parks up there with one of those plate names). But just look at the car's hood...I mean c'mon....

Theres alot of nice cars at my college. Saddens me. Alot of 02ish mustang gt's with exhaust, 07ish mustang gt's, 5.7/6.0 GTO's, BRZ, couple Cobalt SS's that park on the same floor, Lancers (not sure if evo's or what, 04 body style). Nice to walk to class taking glances at peoples cars, but it makes me very jealous when I have to go back to my lame car :/

Upcoming weeks my boost n oil pressure gauges should be in I hope, then spring I want to cam it. Deffinitely need new tires for summer

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

Boost n Oil temp gauge going in this weekend. I wish my car wasn't chipped so much on the mirrors and top of the hood, front of the car. Looks bad up close. Might tint tails, not sure if it'll look good or just look obnoxious. Also want that SLP Gen2 spoiler now, but afraid the paint won't match. Just did a little winter coat. Will re detail it in the spring and prolly get a full buff and polish, help remove some marks around the body.

And for the shiggles, my dads 83 MC SS and my car when I first got my car 13 months ago. It was so spotless back then. Never should've taken it on the highway....

Re: 98 GTP Daytona :)

woops there we go :P. Didnt take inside picks yet. Nothing out of the ordinary. Cept my cup holders dont have the retractable grips and my rear view mirrior has distorted waves on it and it looks faded/fogged
Mine has that too, does anyone know how to fix it or why that happens?

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Boost/Oil Gauge In*

So the oil pressure gauge and boost gauge are in. Getting around 8psi WOT and around 20 vac idle so all good in that dept. However, when the boost gauge was installed, i took it for a drive and heard this....
