JDrach's 98 Daytona - Snappin chains 4 days

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

Ya red does seem to pop out more and looks better IMO as well. maybe ill do this over the weekend. Im sure theres a write up on here to do them. Not sure if i should do the caliper n brake or what.

Really no need for a write up I mean its painting brake calipers...clean the surface very good. Cover up where you don't want the paint to go or you could use a plastic bag over the actual rotor then spray or brush away. Engine enamel or caliper paint will work fine.

That would be fine however I prefer the duplicolor version since its a brighter red..more like the colors that's in the photoshop. Tried VHT before and it came out a darker red.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

I had my drums on my cavalier blasted before I painted them. Hit them with a couple coats of white, then hit them with the red. They turned out very bright.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

the link failed for me because work filters, but that seems about right. I used engine paint on mine, but I think that was before there was a "Brake Caliper Paint" system.

Yup thts the correct one. I also used the aerosol version. It's easier to use the brush on kit if you plan on keeping your calipers attached onto the car. When I did mine I removed them and used the spray since its easier to get a level surface.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

Alright I just bought that kit. Ill prolly have time this Sunday to do them and let them dry out. Today ill try and get the boost gauge up since while I was at autozone I got a t fitting 1/8 that will hopefully do the trick for the boost gauge...

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

here is what i did with mine

1.take them off take pads off
2. scrape the **** out of them
3. soaked in parts washer overnight
4. wiped them down good and took an airhose to dry
5.put on 3 coats of high temp rustoleum engine enamel.
6. slap dat **** back on

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

soak them in what? And what did you use to wash them? I dont think ill be able to soak them cause i can't leave my car in the garage -_- so ill just scrub the crap off and prep them as best as i can.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

I left mine on the car and sprayed then with brake clean and then scuffed them up with sand paper. I used reg spray paint with no problems.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

ya ima try some wire brush n break cleaner. if not maybe a lil sand paper. but i decided since i changed my injectors n spark plugs i should prolly get new wires. I checked with my work, 278$ to swap spark plug wires... RIDICULOUS!

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

in a parts washer its a solution that breaks down grime we use it all the time when we would rebuild carbs we let them soak in it but plug wires are like 80 bucks at napa

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

i can get AC delco ones from my work for 45. 278$ to have a guy replace em. screw that

Yup. Do one at a time to minimize the chance of getting them switched around. If the plugs haven't been changed in awhile can be difficult to remove...grab a pair of mechanics gloves and some needle nose pliers and vice grips and those should do the trick.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

ya i got new plugs when i swapped pullies n such. thank you
