JDrach's 98 Daytona - Snappin chains 4 days

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *Update page 5 RAILS!*

So I want to get this knock retard problem solved. My scanning tool is the aeroforce gauge. Ever since I had my headers and smaller pulley installed back in August, my gauge has been showing no blip or knock retard. About two weeks ago, I was merging onto a highway and was going around 40-45mph on the ramp and gave it a little gas to speed up and noticed that I saw some KR, around 1.6 or so. This was on a 3.4 pulley. While on the highway i did some pulls. At higher speeds, I've seen around up to 3*, but mostly around 1-2 range.

I then swapped to a 3.5 pulley and pulley from lower town, rural road speeds I've either see 0KR ormaybe little blips of .04 or .06 to 1.2 ect. Nothing huge, but now I don't want to stomp on the gas pedal anymore. Does anyone have any tips....the front bank 1 O2 sensor grinds when i throw it in reverse so could that be causing false KR? I don't know where to start

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *KR Troubles*

Those small blips are nothing to even worry about. Happens to just about everyone.

Do you have a fuel pump rewire yet? Its possible the car is going lean up top and causing that little KR.

Just guess here without being able to see exactly what the car is doing via a tuning program.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *KR Troubles*

No I don't but I have the canned Zzp tune and I believe people say it runs really lean?

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *KR Troubles*

Well later today I'm going to get my boost gauge installed and take a look to see if i can get some clearance on that O2 sensor. I'm not sure how much is going to be needed cause I only hear it grinding when in reverse.

On another note, I need a catalytic converter. Does anyone know where to get a good one? I was thinking ZZP since they ship one day for me. Was going to get the spun metal one 3in out/inlets. Not sure if it has to be 12 inches long or 13 inches long because I was thinking about buying one from autozone but not sure about the length and quality. And for goodness sake I don't want it any louder, so no "high flow".

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *KR Troubles*

I have a stock dp laying in the garage i'd sell but it still has the ubend and everything.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *KR Troubles*

Maybe it's rich, i cant recall. Really low timing at WOT. As for the # i can't recall at the moment. 1348 or something like that. Atleast its got a sunroof :)

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *KR Troubles*

which prolly explains my low to no existent KR and low timing.

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *On to the next*

So I ran to the store and decided to buy some of that Turtle Ice liquid wax. The car was worked on and sitting around for half of the day so it got a little dusty and dirty but here are the results. Also I got some clearance for the O2 sensor. No more grinding in reverse and I'm not seeing any KR with the 3.4 pulley on!! I'll do more WOT runs tomorrow but till then....

Idek what those look like. If anything, i'd want to VHT shade them. but i dont know if that even. Don't want it to look stupid and ghetto. I really want a 40th edit spoiler or the gtx one. The back looks too flat

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona *On to the next*

Next step will be finding a catalytic converter and this sunday im going to paint my calipers red. Need to get some primer and clear coat. Then find a right sized T fitting for my boost gauge cause the 1/8th one i got from autozone is still too big to fit around the nylon tube for the gauge, and idk how big the vacuum hose is. 1/8th i think as well

Re: Velicity- My 98 Daytona

My car sounds like a fart cannon now -_- I need to get a catalytic converter.....
