JDrach's 98 Daytona - Snappin chains 4 days

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

Ya that's why I did it. I may just do that. Not so sure on how to do it thoug. Never looked into it. Other than sand down, primer, paint, the clear

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

It's just the gist of things I knew lol. Never actually done it so don't want it to look crappy

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

I would do it one of 2 ways. Tape off and sand then wash dust off, primer, paint, wet-sand, clear... if you want super glossy, if not leave out the wet-sanding... or use Satin-Black.

or the easier way that may or maynot work out as well, tape off, clean with alcohol (rubbing, not whiskey, drink the whiskey... after), spray the "to-be-painted" area with some paint adhesive helper crap (in the paint section), then primer, paint choice color, clear, buff and wax. It may or maynot chip if the adhesive helper crap doesn't work well and the primer doesn't stick, but if it does, you can always sand and repaint again.

Just remember, light coats, even spread, and if you use spray cans buy the $3-5 gun handle in the paint section, it makes WORLDS of difference.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

I actually think I'm going to throw one-two heavier coats on to darken them up, then try the plasti dip glossifier. That link Guz posted made te fascia stand out too much. I kinda like how it looks now, just a tad darker and will see how the glossifier works.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

I just think its a simpler solution and feel repainting it wwould make it stand out the most on the car.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

I watched a video on the glossifier, and one spray gives it a satin finish, and 4-5 give it a gloss.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

So you rather spend $8 on plasti dip. Then what another $8 on glossifer and then you'll have to have it shipped unless local places sell it now. Then a $5 on primer and another $7 on paint ~_~ hmmmmm.

I vote death to Plasti dip use on automobiles!!

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

cans locally are 6$. And if i end up not liking it i can peel it off. That's why I like dip lol

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

The glossifier is not worth it. My brother tried it and it wasn't that glossy. I should ask him if he wants to sell his plastidip.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona

Well I already kinda like it as is. So if I want to gloss it i will use the dip stuff. If I don't like it I can peel it all off and go back to stock. Saves money? Cause if I prep and paint it black and end up not liking it, ill have to re do it agian lol.
