Help me think out my cam decision

XPZ seems a little to over the top for me, I don't want to have to run 140+ lb springs, and I don't want to have to run the custom pushrods. And people running the xpz cam made the same or slightly more power on comparable heads, only ones who made more than 5whp more than the s3 either had alum heads, 9.5 pistons or both. From what I could find.

I would highly recommend that you switch to a double roller. You shouldn't be running that heavy of a spring with a stock chain. And, you should never run a single roller.

Gtppower has a point. I can run a stock chain on 130# springs at 750 rpm idle and I just changed my tensioner after 15k. a piece had broke off the bottom. I know I run my idle a little low but it sounds good. If you do run a stock chain just know that you'll probably have to replace the tensioner once a year.

I'm fine with replacing the tensioner once a year. Very easy to get to in the camaro. Will be running minimum of 1000 RPM idle. GTPower whats wrong with a single roller?

Planning on just 130lb springs and stock chain with high idle.

Stock chain here with the s1x and 105# springs. Idle set to 850. Almost 20k miles and no issues. I think I'll swap the chain and dampener after 50k miles.

I ran a stock chain with 130's for awhile too. But, I don't recommend it. That's a lot of stress for the stock chain and a lot of pressure applied to the dampner.

Due to the design of a single roller, it really wears out a dampner fast. What do you have against a double roller?

Double rollers have a life too guys. There have been many that have stretched like crazy under heavy abuse, mileage, etc.

I really don't see why this is even a debate, if running springs over a 105# springs id for damn sure run double roller, running a big cam and big springs on a single roller makes just about as much sense as building a turbo setup and leaving the stock dual trans chain in............

Well, I have a few thingd to mechanically check before I do anything more serious to it. But it's a Comp Cam 76-802-9 with a 3.4/3.2mps. Currently have the 3.4 on. My injectors run static on the 3.2 around 5500rpms or so. And they still run out of room on the 3.4. It's weird

buy a bigger fuel pump and a rewire kit? Others can help but I don't see how your running injectors static on a 3.2/3.4. Some bigger injectors would help too, but depending on what your goals are me personally Id throw a bigger pump in and a rewire kit.

Hell maybe just a rewire alone will help it enough so that the injectors will be happy.

Im willing to bet a solid tune would make a big difference too.

Stretching vs breaking tensioners and sending pieces into the oil pan, or grinding them up in the gears etc and snapping is my preference. I've seen people lose motors due to single chain and tensioner issues. I haven't seen a properly installed double roller give much of an issue beyond stretching.
