• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Got walked by a stang.. Butt hurt is real..

I changed my oil and haven seen metal or glittery oil since. There were no chunks or anything in the oil and nothing on my magnetic drain plug. So I'm not sure. If I was grinding lobes or something I'd have a ****ty idle at the very least of my worries and the car runs great except for a lifter tick. I'm going to try changing the icm see if that helps with the cam code.
The ICM has nothing to do with the camshaft so changing that won't solve any issues. And I am willing to bet you spun a bearing and that "lifter tick" that you hear is not a "lifter tick" like you think.

Somethings not right... I have ran my fair share of SN85s and That I can think of right now I have never lost....

Not sure how to add a video on here. I don't beat on my car constantly my buddy pulled up beside me one day and he had a decent 1/2- 1 car jump on me from passin me so I came onto it in the car and in the upper end of 2nd gear I started gaining a little but it wasn't worth bragging about.

I've been aroud motors and worked on them since I was 16 I'm 30 now. The noise is a tapping noise when I first come on to the gas. It's done it since I bought the car just never thought anything about it. I've read a lot of threads and most of them say that with a spun bearing the oil pressure light comes on. There is no oil pressure light there is no metal in the oil now I changed it and am about 500 miles into the oil change with no glittery oil. I believe the glittery oil was from me doin the cam position sensor I had globbed some copper never seize on the bolt that holds it in and I got some never seize in the cam sensor hole. That's where the glittery oil came from. If it was chewing something up I'd see a lot more metallic colored oil that's what I've heard from a few shops around my town and they have listened to the noise and said at the most it is a worn valve guide. So I'm running it til it blows and loving it.

Oil pressure light won't always come up. My last motor with a spun rod bearing never showed the light. Not even driving / idling / beating on it with the spun rod bearing.
Needless to say that block is now a table, but yeah.

Rod knock is worse from 1k to 2.5k ish rpm, as far as noise goes. Lifter tick is just slow ticking then increases steadily with rpm all the way up. Been there, done that on both cases.

Def. should get around posting a video.

When my silver car had rod knock all you could hear was the ticking sound, no lights came on nothing, until the engine went boom.

The fact that it's almost a squeek, and tick at the same time ,sounds just like my motor before I rebuilt. It spun 2 rod bearings.#1 and 2.That's what it sounds like to me anyway, hard to tell when it's not in person.

You need to make a vid that is longer than 10 seconds and move around so we can hear the sound from more than 1 angle.

Next Wednesday I'm having a shop take a look into the cam sensor issue and I'm going to have them listen to the noise and see if they can tell me me what's going on. Getting my kybs installed and zzp springs finally!!

I'm hoping he can figure out the cam sensor issue and the noise. I know someone with a spare motor I might see if I can buy the motor and start building it up.
