• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Gettin some gooooood vibrations!

So in the process of doing my header job once I got everything all bolted up my car is displaying some strong vibrations. Only at stop lights when drive is engaged, so when I throw her into neutral the vibrations go down considerably and under load they are gone.

I did notice that my dog bone mounts were pretty thrashed from rotating them, my subframe bushings appear to be ok but im less then qualified to say so either way.

My question or rather thought I want to get straightened out in my head is the cause so I can further my knowledge of these cars and hopefully one day be able to help others so here it is....

I lowered my ride about a few months ago with ZZPs strut spring combo on AGXs, Front and Rear Sway bars, and ZZP trailing arms. Never did get around to putting in the spacers I got from Vinnie as my car post suspension job had zero vibrations. My question is did the header job trigger this new vibration while at stop lights? Or did the dogbone mounts getting aggravated cause this? Or could my motor and trans mounts have gone out when I lowered my sub frame to do the header job? Im planning on picking up some poly dog bone mounts next week so that will be done and hopefully in the next day or so ill throw in the spacers. Maybe doing that will answer my question but its gonna take me a day or two to research the spacer job before i tackle it. Any insight would be great cause I love furthering my knowledge on this platform. But if I should go through and replace all my major motor mounts might as well make one big order right?

I havent checked but right before I dropped her on all fours everything was clearing kinda tough to get under there when its not on jacks and see maybe I can roll her into a jiffy lube and see if I can run under the bay.

Could that cause enough vibration to feel it in the steering wheel?

Did you have to find the ****ties quality version of that song?
This song is more fitting.

I would check your sway bar and flip it if needed and I would think more then anything it would be those mounts causing the issue. O2 could also be be hitting the firewall like dsmuts said.

When I had just the ZZP 2 piece mounts up top and every other mount was stock. Anytime that I would put the car in reverse or take off from a stop I would get a strong clunk every time. Took me awhile to pinpoint that it was just that mount and once I switched them. No more clunk. How many miles on the car?

Not trying to thread jack but what mount? I get a clunk when I stop or take off and I'm not sure where it is coming from, engine and trans mounts both look fine.

185K on the clock, the dogbone mounts are coming. And the spacers are goin in. Ill try to do the work systematically to try and pin point the issue. Never thought about the header hitting the sway, man I really hoped I would never have to remove that thing but I guess now that I know how easy it is to drop the subframe it should go much smother. I didnt mention this but I have the GMPP front and rear sways.

I do think it could be my O2 sensor after the cat since it was basically touching that thin metal heat shield. Is that needed or can I toss that?
