Fuel Pump Hotwire kit worth it?

Anyone tried these and if so, how did it work? I am switching over to 85 very soon and would like to know if this is something I should consider for the stock pump that I replaced recently.

Any brand you'd recommend? Intense Racing looks like they sell a plug and play setup.

Thanks :th_thumbsup-wink:

It's not a pain.. You run it from the fuse box to the inside of the car then all the way back.. Either use the grommet on the passenger side then stick the rest either underneath the trim panels or underneath the carpet

zzp kit works great. If you are not removing the connector on the top of the sending unit, its pointless to get fancy with a rewire. I run through tank wiring on all of my cars except for a zzp rewire on my DD rallyx gtp.

Your paying for what a slightly thicker wire then stock with ZZP kit vs the better ones that also comes with a relay and is of a better quality.

Probably should also add an alternator power wire too. Part of the "big three" upgrades for power. The stock wire is like 10' of 8ga wire. You should run a thicker wire straight from the alternator to the fuse box to reduce any bottlenecks.

Got that one taken care of already :th_thumbsup-wink: Thanks for the pointer though

FWIW, I did the Racetronix rewire, but I ran the wiring through the car instead of under the car. It was a very nice kit and running it through the car gave it some extra protection. If I had a W-body, that's who I'd buy from again.

Just run it under the car, I followed the O2 wiring then the frame back to the rear @ pump, relas are under car too, some put it n trunk. If you run aftermarket audio through passenger compartment to the trunk, the power wiring along the sills inside can be an issue, unless you plan in advance well and run audio one side, power the other.

Was actually an easy install... Racetronix is best IMO, but either are good.

Good Luck!

The only reason I ran mine inside was for added protection. I also had the complete interior out which made it super easy to get the wiring to sit correctly.
