Few Questions 98GTP

I just picked up a 98 GTP last week.

It's got problems, nothing major really.

First the HUD keeps going in and out (banging on the dash doesn't do anything) It works when it wants to.

-Anyone know of reasons or ways to repair?

Second, my info station went out, I was told it's just a bulb, is this true? (It went out from banging on the dash lol!)

Third, has anyone know the oil pan gasket to go bad, or leak? I think that's where my oil leak is (multiple drops a day)

Thanks!

info station? you mean your DIC? if so this has I think three bulbs in it that can be replaced. you just have to take apart the dash to access it............not sure on the HUD unit, you may just have to replace it. Ed Morad should have some of these for sale or your local junk yard. If you do replace it, just make sure it is bright before you install it. They fade over time.... My oil pan might leak a tiny bit, but it is bent from previous owner........so not a good barometer.

Also, one thing I also forgot to add:

The rear passenger side window does not stay up, the motor spins but the window is able to move freely.

Not to sure about fixing it, never done that before.

ROFL @ the 'banging on the dash doesnt do anything' you probably pissed your car off for hitting it, so it's just not gonna work ;p

And as for the oil leak, my whip leaks too right near the seal. I know alot of GP's have oil leak problems. Mine has left spots all over my work parking lot.

On the HUD, the issue you are most likely experiencing is the photocell has a cold solder joint. This is a very common issue with GP HUD's.

Pop off the dash trim covering the HUD and remove the hud unit from the dash. Open it up and there is a silver round component on the circuit board over in one corner. Reflow the solder and plug it in for a test. tap and wiggle to ensure the HUD is 100% before putting it all back together.

Thanks, I'll give it a try, I'll keep you posted.

Not this weekend, but next weekend I'm going to pull the motor and slap on a new oil pan and gasket.

What I did was borrowed the light from the (Traction Warning Light)

So it's pretty good for now.

Until that one blows, I'll probably forget about getting new lights..

I want to worry about the bigger problems first really.
