Exhaust Question Bolt on or not?

Now this may sound like a total newb question but I am wanting to redo my exhaust cause I was rearended and my muffler sags and looks like crap. And who wouldn't want to upgrade their exhaust on one of these babies?

So my question is, do we have bolt on kits for our GPs? I have heard of imports having full bolt on kits and was wondering if this was an option for us? Im trying to do as much work on this car as possible, but dont have a welder or the skills to weld.

Can I replace my exhaust without needing a welder?

yes, but stock sounds the best.

the louder stuff reveals just how poorly this motor in this particular car sounds.

So a louder exhaust will make this car sound bad? Ive only ever modded lifted trucks with big V8s so thats all I can go off of but I generally love the sound of a after market exhaust on any muscle car.

Ive been doin some research and found this kit online. I just want to make sure im not getting in over my head before I purchase it. Im assuming based off of the data that it literally is a bolt on kit. But I cant for the life of me figure out how they ship it to you? Let me know what ya think about a kit like this?

Make sure the kit comes with a resonator.

Easiest way to see just what i'm talking about is to unbolt your catback and drive the car.

If you like the sound, then the SLP kit might work for you.

If you don't, Borla might be a better choice. Or possibly stock.

@matt5112 So the SLP set up is super loud? i dont want that I like more of a throaty growl then a roaring giant. I just love to hear the car when I pick up off the line.

@Lenny So the deal is I gotta replace my current mufflers cause the hangers are shot from the rearend. All the mods you mentioned I can probably do myself right? With my K5 it was super easy to swap out headers and what not. I just have no clue about these cars. Any tips?

Any thoughts on a flowmaster setup? Thats what I ran in my Trucks?

Flowmaster sounds bad on our cars.

borla does sound awesome on our cars. you could get just the mufflers and have an exhaust shop do the rest. it would cost about the same as buying a bolt on system.

fwiw the borla bolt on for us is about $1000. i like my gmpp exhaust which is all stainless and was only $500

Does it make a difference if its stainless? Or is that just a aesthetic thing? So just Borla Mufflers would be a good way too go? Im just afraid of them dicking me around cause im not 100% sure if the pipes before the mufflers are bent or not? My mufflers are sagging and draggin to the right a bit so I dont know if they are gonna try to push me into redoin all the pipes from the cat back.

Have to agree. I like the sound of my borla. Have had it on the car for years. The price has gone through the roof for it. I bought mine when it was $500. The GMPP was the alternative to the borla but the GMPP has been discontinued.

headers, downpipe, and stock catback FTW

If I was too go with Headers and Downpipe what would you recommend? The more i research this on the site the more I hear that this mod will get me more MPG and thats the ultimate goal. If it sounds better then plus plus! Regardless I gotta replace my mufflers but im gathering that if I do the Headers and DP mod just stick with stock mufflers?

Could I do the Headers and DP mod without any welding?

Haha, just saying.

Try and find more in car videos to give you a better idea of what driving around with it is like.
