Duralast Parts :-P

I..(at advance)..give people a three strike rule on some parts (starters,alternators)..

explain, because if your saying that you will only replace something a limited amount of times when it has a lifetime warranty, then thats wrong, if bought a alternator and it fails 3 times, im already gonna be pissed when i come walking into your store, and then you tell me that my warranty is no good, probably enough for me to walk out of your store for the last time

No its enough for me to tell you that you ****ed up and didn't do the job right.

Moral of this story..

QUIT BLAMING THE ****ING PARTS.

people piss me off when they come in and question why we won't warranty their pads due to wear because autozone will.. Guess what, I don't ****ing care what autozone does. If you like their warranty and can't respect ours, then gtfo.

I've told a guy that had us warranty a starter three times, that I would give him his money back the fourth time and he can go somewhere else. I'm not giving him any more of my starters to just have them get junked.

Its if the part has a defect.

Not if the part is junked because you're a moron, or that wasn't the problem and you're warrantying it just to "see if it fixes the problem" or if it wears out and you want new ones etc.

I really don't think parts people should offer ANY advice. It tends to be wrong, misguided, or going to a complete noob who's going to botch their brakes and cause a collision because of it.

Example: Apparently the pads and rotors I sold a guy didn't work.

So I pulled out the same pads, same rotors, and the caliper for his car. Showed how there was an inside and outside pad, and they would only go in one way. Otherwise they won't work. Assembled the entire thing to prove it works.

He still wasn't convinced.

Had another guy with an air filter, said he couldnt get it to go in, and thus it was incorrect.

We compared the one I sold him to the old one. They were almost exactly the same (within a millimeter) of each other. The outside former is foam, so it deforms easily. Customer was convinced they were different.

If someone cant figure something out that simple they shouldn't be touching a car let alone driving one. :th_shakinghead2:

You wouldn't believe the number of people who ignore every warning light on their dash.

Oil level light, tire pressure light, check engine light, etc.

Change wiper blades? No way, too difficult, must have someone install.

I need a lightbulb, heres the bulb, can you find that for me? Well, they might be sitting there on the shelf in blister packs.

Oil filter? Air filter? Spark plugs? Which washer fluid should I use? Which snake oil should I use to solve x? "Hey this oil really woke my engine up!" and it goes on.

I only make them put my wiper blades on if its one of my cousins who wait on me. LOL

I do it to get them outside and bull**** for a minute.

you would cry if you saw how many men, i see having cold air intakes put on, battery's, and wipers, by auto zone employees here.

last time i was there, a guy was doing a full brake job in the lot, another guy had the hood up and tearing something out.

and in the lot next door, hidden in a corner was 4 guys 3 trucks, one one was getting a trans swap lol

i must say ive done my fair share of parts store lot repair work, blown brake line repair, brakes, alternators, lights.

never thought to do a trans swap there though, that takes some balls.

I could do a parking lot trans stop in my Stealth. One time my garage was occupied by either my brother's or his father-in-law's race car.

I had to get the trans out, so I did it right in the driveway. Managed to have the trans on the ground in under an hour.

Helps when you have a lot of practice. LOL

The only duralast part I have is a water pump. It's been doing fine for some time now. Close to having 50K miles on it. Watch me just jinx myself with this statement.

I buy Duralast for my dailys. I am sure I have a few parts from em on my GTP. Just have to remember to look at the warranty and not be an idiot and be smart about some of the type of parts buying from them and realizing that you might have to waste your time taking it out and getting it replaced earlier down the road than with a quality part..

I don't go to AutoZone so I won't buy Duralast parts. AutoZone counter guys are morons, not to mention their "system" is so far out of date that you almost have to know DOS to know how to use it.

The autozones around here updated their systems a few years back and it seems pretty up to date to me.

Some of the parts say duralast on them.

It's just private label stuff. AutoZone doesn't have a special factory pumping out their parts. Some of their "Duralast" parts are nothing more than GMB or other companies stuff put in a Duralast box.
