Dealership being a P.I.T.A

So, yesterday I took the GXP in for a second time to try and get the alignment corrected because the steering wheel was off centered. Guess what steering wheel is still slightly off centered and as I'm sitting in the waiting room I can partially hear the service advisor tell the used car manager that my car needs a steering rack and they don't want to fix it. Now considering I bought the car last week and I have a we owe from them stating the will take care of the alignment issues I think it's BS they don't want fix the rack. So now I got to wait until the 13th for the GM of the dealership to come back from vacation and talk to him about this.

light car on fire, ghost ride it through the dealer window!

but really, if you heard them say that, tell them you heard that and you calling GM.

i did this with out telling them, and oh boy were they pissed off, but then again they sucked like you dealer does, so they diseved to to be sh it on as well/

and dont ya know, they fixed my truck as well. if you have a warranty they have to fix it.

id call GM and tell them whet kinda of service you are getting, and how you heard them talking about your can and not wanting to fix it.

names go a long way too.

you may not want them messing around with your steering. they put three power steering pumps and three racks into my car before they got it right when I got my car done at a dealership. Each time they would give my car back and say the steering was fixed but I couldnt every turn the steering wheel. I dont trust dealerships anymore.

free work is just that free. can always win, thats for sure.

i have a list of horror stories just like this but even worse, like i said, i called GM and threw them under the bus, then stopped the bus and and back up over the manager again.

knowing these people on a first name basis is not good either, it means your there to much, i knew every service managers name. sadly, they knew mine as well.

when my truck blew is head gaskets at 15,000 miles, it had to be towed to a dealer in S jersey, *(not my dealership) they also got ratted out due to taking 20 days to fix my truck, talk about pissed!

i was like a week i can see, but 20 days, your letting my truck sit......and not working on it at all. i got it back 3 days after that call to GM.

Yeah, I got a copy of the repair order and it stated that they 'adjusted the steering rack'. I'm thinking to myself what a can be adjusted on a steering rack other then the tie rods. I mean I shouldn't have to turn the steering wheel to the left to go straight down the road and have to manually center the wheel after making a turn.

you would be 100% correct.

is that typed n the paper work, or is it part of repair codes they have on auto print? form crap. if its typed in, GM may like to hear that too.

sounds like a lazy ass dealership to me. wtf do they care, they get paid for warranty work, GM pays the Bill not the dealer.

On a completely different note you should have heard the excuse on why my traction control and stability light was coming on randomly.

The last job I worked at had a Silverado company truck. I think it was an 04 or 05, but was brand new at the time.

Anyway something happened and they took it to the GM dealer for repair. Get it back and a day later the truck overheats because one of the idiot mechanics routed the lower rad hose wrong and the serp belt cut a hole in it. Mind you, the truck got pretty damn hot before the guy driving noticed.

They had the truck towed back to the GM dealer to fix the hose and do an oil change, and a few other things to make sure everything was okay. They get it back and are told everything is good to go. Well after driving it a short time it sounded like the a rod was going to come through the oil pan.

The boss got pissed and called another mechanic to come tow it to his shop. The guy said he went to drain the oil and it barely trickled out because it was so thick. He said he had to flush the oil out with diesel fuel. It took him over an hour just to get the old nasty oil out.

After he got an oil change in it it was a little better, but if it idled too long the low oil pressure light would come on.

They never went after the dealership as far as I know. But fact is, they screwed them.

I hear you on that. I have bought a few cars in the last couple years and some of the dealerships weren't bad too deal with but there are those few that are just a pain to deal with.

That's what I was thinking but I got it in writing that they have to address that issue also and they told me they fixed it which they didn't cause it still pops on from time to time and their excuse was that because the LS4 makes so much torque it would trip the light more than a normal grand prix. My response was then why would it come on randomly while driving down the interstate at 65.

Thats a load, I'd tell GM about that as well.

The car can tell the difference between wheel spin and brakes locking.

If not, you have bigger problems.

I honestly don't think I'd buy a car with any issues and "hope" they fix it. Its clear to me that if they're selling the car with issues, they have no intent on fixing them, or fixing them properly.

My car was running great they recalled it for a steering problem I told them I did not have a problem they insisted I needed to bring it in anyway, they changed the rack. Well, I get the car back and 3 days later at 75 mph on a curve my steering goes out I muscle the car around the curve stop and see steering fluid everywhere. I call the dealer bring it back they fix it again 2 days later again I lose steering. This time they changed the pump a few days later and it goes out again. Well now I research and find out that the recall stated to change the rack, fluid and pump together to avoid contamination. I tell the dealer this he argues that that is a suggestion, this would happen 3 more times and keep in mind each time they would keep the car 3 days and not give me a loaner car. The last time I told them I wanted a rental car AND the job done the way the TSB stated they said; "NO" I sent the owner a registered certified letter the next day informing him that since my car had no steering problems when I brought it there and now I keep losing my steering I feel they must have something against me and wish to cause me bodily harm so therefore unless I hear from them in the next 24 hours I will be filing charges against him for attempted murder. I get a phone call telling me; "this is crazy you can't win" I stated I doubt it but the negative publicity you get will more than make it worth it. The next morning I showed up with a cop and speaking loudly asked for the owner and stated what I was there for. He came running out, well, I got a rental car, new rack, pump, lines they cleaned the interior and washed it before giving it back AND this time job only took about 6 hours. If you like I upon request I will post what happened when a different dealer set my engine on fire. True story

OK since I have two likes now, lets move on to the engine fire once again car running fine and I got the call for the infamous oil leak engine fire recall. I bring it in because where I was working at the time a car identical to mine and only about 5 cars away caught fire and melted down to nothing. In light of what happened with the steering rack and against my better judgement I bring my car to a dealer NOT the same one who did my steering. I get the car back and the next day on the way home the car starts surging RPMS going from 2800 to zero in a second over and over. I find if I play with the pedal I can get to run a few miles at a time ok. I get home pop the hood and no sooner do I have it open then I hear a pop and see the middle plug catch fire. Thank god I am in my driveway right next to the hose I put it out. I call the dealer he tells me to contact GM since (YOU ARE GONNA LOVE THIS) the car is out of warranty and they longer make Pontiac so he is not responsible, I should not have brought it in. I call GM we go back and forth a few days and they tell me it is a dealer problem since it is out of warranty and they state that is what they told the dealer. I call the dealer back who suggests I sue GM. I call back GM who sympathizes with me but states they have no control over dealers so sue away if I want. I call back the dealer he suggests I have it looked at by an independent shop of MY choosing. I bring it to a place that has a GREAT reputation and has done some awesome work for me in the past. After a week they find the issue the positive battery cable was wedged between the exhaust manifold and engine block and shorted out. I call the dealer he refuses to help stating all the did was" change gaskets on the spark plugs" offered to show me the part and how it goes on to prove, he could not have done anything because he asked the mechanic who worked on it if did could have done anything wrong and the man said no, "Not knowingly or UNKNOWINGLY" (How can you unknowingly know you did something?) Plus I brought it to another shop before he said OK (Apparently according to him I was supposed to wait for him to tell me what day to bring the car to a shop, this was my only vehicle and I was bumming rides for months between all the bouncing around). I explain that he told me too do this and he just kept repeating "The car is out of warranty", I wait a few days and call back give him a website I had up at the time for my business tell him the link; "Whats this about?" "Go to the link ASAP if you want to save your dealership" I hang up he calls back he went to the link where I had posted the entire incident and it was going thousands of people in the area could see it, even had his address and a picture of the place. He told me I need to take that down or he would sue. I explained; "Well you can sue if you want but freedom of speech and documented proof of the incident are what I will argue when we get to court. Now I may lose and you may even counter sue for a large amount of money. A.) No guarantee I will lose the case. B.) No guarantee you will win the counter-suit C.) Even if you when how many people will see this before they make me pull it D.) I already have 2,000 flyers printed I intend to hang up in every Krogers, Piggly Wiggly any place with a bulletin board in the area. Now here is a thought I want to throw out there. You don't want to pay my damages of $600.00 I don't want to eat $600.00 I have a brand new GTX hood and bumper I need to put on my car but they are not painted yet. I bring them to you, you paint hem I put them on my car and this whole thing is forgotten." He tells me he did nothing wrong and hangs up. Next day I get a call; "Now we did nothing wrong, and we admit to nothing, but I like you, you are a real nice guy and I want to help you, so as a favor I am going to paint those pieces for you bring down whenever you want" I thanked him I went down and 5 times he stated "This is a favor, just because I like you, You know that right? Nothing to do with anything else." LOL He did a great paint job and the incident disappeared from my web page. . .Moral of these too stories; Never set out to get even, because then all you will be is even, set out to get one step ahead, then it was worth the waste of your time and the aggravation.

with 40 miles left on my 03 gmc trucks warranty, the locker in the rear was no longer working, and the trans was slipping in reverse.

i drop it off they do all the work, rebuilt the trans and rear end. 2 days later the trans pump is whining like a sc. i take it back they rebuild it again. 2 weeks later 1 st gear and reverse are slipping bad. 2 rebuilds in a month or so.

so now they tell me they are getting me a new crate trans from GM, im ok, this had better be it. they put it in, it works just fine. i stop for gas. and look under the truck and see a epoxy patch on my t case, im like wtf?!!! then i notice 3 or 4 nice scratches down the side of the truck.

call back flip the **** out, called GM, then get the call back from them, why did you call Gm this and that, i was like i cant trust you people, you broke my case or it was damaged, still under warranty, but this is what you do to hide a hole in the T case? and whole lot a who the **** works there morons? hes like we didnt do that, im like i did? so i went down and showed him. then he acts all like well ok, were just going to get you a new crate t case from GM and be done with it. the bast part was it was leaking 3 weeks later.

they never owned up to either, just replaced it. and that was the last time it was ever at the dealer lol

how can you say you didnt do this? and this is just looking up from the pass side of the truck, no looking hard for this gem.

MVC-004S.jpg

i had later found out that area of the T case is where a sprocket type part fits into the case, and it holds something when you go f and r, the case cracks there all the time, and the after market has a part you lay in behind the stock part to make it tighter so it dont move and crack the case.

i also lemon lawed this truck. i got 4500 sent to me from GM, and added a 50,000 mile warranty to the truck with a 50 dollar deductible, so id wait till it needed 2 or 3 things done and have it all done for the 50, vs 50 every time. for it having pages and pages of warranty repair work done to it, and for not having it for over 50 days due to repair work down time, and thats just days it was at the dealer.

like i said, its not good if your on a first name basis with the service people.

WALL OF TEXT

There are these things called PARAGRAPHS.

Had a bad story as well in regards to the local Chevrolet dealership. Parking Garage in the city was broken into while was I doing a shift at work, when I get to the garage, the employees of the garage explain to me how the garage was broken into and a number of car keys were stolen, including mine. Get a car service home, have someone drop me off the next day with my spare set of keys. Dropped the car off at the local dealership because I didn't want my car parked down there where someone could walk in and steal my car when ever they wanted because they now have my keys. Dealership quotes me roughly $600.00 to re-key the entire car with a new remote. After the 3rd day of waiting I walk in the dealership and b*tch and moan about the simple 1 day in and out service and what happened? Get the car and walk to pay the bill and it is over $2100.00 now! WTF!!!!!

Complain to the service manager and he says too bad, "it is what it is". I tell him what about my quote of $600.00? His response is, "do you have that in writing?" Of course not, learned my lesson there. Now ultimately I know the garage is going to pay the bill, because I had already had it out with the manager there and they agreed to it, another story for another day. Drive the towards the exit of the dealership and the car promptly dies. Come to find out they did not reprogram the computer to the new set of keys. It's now gonna be another day and be an additional $200.00. After finally getting car back, running, the drivers side door panel is broken and cracked in multiple places, they say they never touched it? Really? How did you get to the exterior door lock? We do that now from the outside of the vehicle. A bunch of piece of sh*t liers, who took me for a lot of money for no reason! Hate the dealerships, they are all scabs!!!!!!

I did call General Motors as well to complain and they were very sympathetic with my story as well, but they stated they have no control of the any of the dealerships service and/or pricing for service. Never, never ever take your car to Grand Prize Chevrolet of Nanuet!!!! Though I like and am/was loyal to GM vehicles, I had to by a RAM Truck because that GM dealership was the only one around that was not 50 miles out of my way. Because of that dealership I can now not buy a GM product, they lost a customer due to their dealership's representative!

Love how the price changed, PONTIAC did that to me with a water pump quoted me $600 with the pump. I said no thanks I will do it myself, well I had just moved into a new house, had a lot going on and I could not figure how to get the pump off all but one bolt came out. I call the dealer back and say ok you git me I will bring it in he states that it is $1000, now price went up, said I should have gotten the $600 in writing. I hung up called a friend who found me a reputable mechanic 1 day and $149.00 later my new pump was in. Screw you GM now I know why you lost money and went bankrupt
