Well, I got up at 5 am today to tackle the TB. I fought over the engine bay with the bugs, but by golly, I did it! YAY!!
Took the filter, elbow, coupler and retainer ring out last night and gave up fighting with the screen until this morning.
Then I dug into it. Got the top nut off, and was having a hell of a time with the other 2. Finally got the TB bracket off, and threw that stupid bracket away after I was done calling it every name under the sun. Then, after I stood there for 10 minutes fighting with the socket and rachet about why I couldn't get the bottom 2 nuts off, I realized how much easier a deep well socket and extension would have made my life. Back to the tool box I went and dug out both. Easy as pie then. Grrrr.
Got the TB off and managed to get the cables undone too.
Here it is in all its nasty-ness glory.
^^I just took a rag and kinda wiped around the edge in there because I wasn't sure if I could go crazy spraying stuff?
As clean as it was going to get.
Gasket appeared to be ok, so back together the car went. Putting it back together was 10000000 times easier than tear down, thank god.
Does this screen need replaced or is that normal? I did bend it a little myself trying to get it out and back in.
Then the moment of truth came....would she start back up?
Drum roll please......
YES! :th_biggrin2::th_biggrin2:
Now, hopefully no more codes!
Tomorrow, if this heat wave ends like they say it will, I'm going to have dad help me get the car on ramps and replace the exhaust insulators.
