• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Danielle's 99 GT :)

Well, on 04+ cars the filter is right behind the passengar wheel, so if you turn the wheel you can access the filter from the side.
Ohhh, for the oil. Gotcha.
It looked to me to be kinda right across from it, like right above the (broken) sway bar.
I don't think I could turn the wheels while on the ramps tho.

Derek, I think your right, that could get ugly on ramps lol. But I'm lazy, and the ramps are so easy.

Dan, It does feel good! I was so proud of myself.
Those bulbs are the same ones you got, so there's a teaser for you.
I ordered mine after you said you did, so Idk how I got mine already.

Why not do a shift kit while you were there. Idk about prices now but you could do a dig shift kit for under 20 without the fluid and gasket

I'm not to interested in doing many performance mods.
Trans is holding up great, I don't wanna jinx it.

car looks clean is that the original paint? and clear corners look great
Thanks.
As far as I know, it is the original paint.
The original window sticker and business card of salesman who sold it new was in the glove box when I got it.

you would probably know if that wasn't the original paint most likely it is your lucky your car looks just about as shinny and clean as mine is and i got mine painted in august

There are a few chips where its down to the metal. There doesn't appear to have been anything previous.
It's got swirls, but for being 13 it looks pretty good.

I polished the deck led when installing the spoiler and everything came out without hardly any effort when using the PC.
Doing the rest of the car should be a breeze, I hope.

Nicely done like always. A shift kit helps prolong the trans. If you keep the car long enough you can do it at the next pan drop.

Here is a tip if you choose to change your own oil. Turn the wheel to access the filter. Get a pie dish and put it under the filter. That will capture the oil from the filter. Also look into a synthetic oil that you can run longer like amsoil or mobile 1 extended performance so you don't have to change it over the winter.

nice! how far do you plan on going with it?
Honestly, probably not much more.
Working on a limited budget and I have other things that are more important.
Really no desire to make it go fast, I'd get in trouble.
Maybe when it's paid off wheels or something, but that would probably be it.
Highly doubt on lowering it, due to roads I travel.

How hard is the shift kit to do?
This was my first experience of doing anything under the hood, short of checking fluids.
Props to Bill for guiding me and answering some stupid questions this afternoon!

Idk if it'd be smart to turn the wheel while on ramps? I'm not sure if my dad has jack stands hiding somewhere.
Is it safe to run synthetics if its never had them before? Car as 118k on it now.
I've heard good things about the amsoil and moible 1, so I wouldn't be worried doing either of those.

It's not hard to do. Everything is accessible with the pan removed. There is a write up on here on how to install one with good pics. If you decide to put one in, I would recommend the transgo shift kit.

As far as the oil, it is safe to switch anytime. You should not have a problem.

How did that large pan work out for catching the fluid? ;)

On that gasket for the filter to trans, It typically says in the instructions that come with them, that if the filter fits good that you should not mess with it. Best tool I have found for pulling that (and pieces of old coolant elbows) is a blind pilot bearing tool. When Harbor Freight has it on sale..I think it's $20. Dave saw it in action during his cam install.

Looks good...glad it was as easy as we told you it would be.

Dave..if you've ever tried to get that seal out. You'd be buying the tool too. Kinda like 82248, you know you wanted one after seeing it pop the axle.
