Danielle's 99 GT :)

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

So the silverstars are clear but light up amber? I'm looking online and that's the way it appears to me.

They have a bluish yellow look to them when they are off but are amber when they are on. I will get you a pic of how they look during the day so you get an idea.

This is what they look like. They are discontinued and hard to find. You will be fine using the 3157 size bulb.
Amazon.com: Sylvania 3157A/4157A ST BP SilverStar 27-Watt High Performance Signal Light: Automotive

As far as the corner bulb being white, that is ok. I believe the law says it can be yellow or white in the front.

I got this one. They are $3 each. Autolumination also lists some stealth bulbs for cheap.

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

I figured that much about the LEDS.
Sorry Mike, Im an idiot. I actually looked a little harder and found the stealth bulbs on there for 4.99, that I can deal with.
Thanks for that website!

Well, here they are....

Does the sidemarker bulb need to be orange (or something other than white)? I got orange ones with the new corners but just left the white stockers in. I don't know if they have to flash orange when turn signals are on??

I think they are going to take some getting used it, its a lot of white going on in the front. Now I really wanna change inlay colors. I had to work today and was gone all day yesterday, so she won't be getting much attention for another 2 weeks. 26 days and only 1 day off in between doesn't leave much room for free time. I still gotta do the other grill in glitter and I'll try the front fascia. Most likely, it's gonna wait until warmer spring weather unless it stays this nice for a couple weeks. I don't exactly like the orange color the bulbs give off, but I'm not paying $30 for the stealth's. I'm gonna try and hunt down something (can't find the silverstars around here to get a price).

*how do you change the title of your thread permanently?

The clears look amazing on there... I have 194 LED bulbs in the corner lens (they're clear when off but when on they light up amber) Looks good during the day or night. Then I've got the hyper white bulbs in place of the orange 3157's (they're tinted blue) but when lit they're close to the color of my HID's )

Btw if you want to change your title pm me and I can do it for you also.

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

A picture would be great! Thanks :)

Almost forgot the picture. Only thing I don't have is a pic of the stealth bulb in the corner since it is covered by the reflector. But it matches the yellow of the silverstar bulb.

This is what the bulbs look like when not on.

if you go to your first post of the thread and edit it, go advance and change the title on that post and itll change the title of the thread

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

Thanks for the pictures Mike. I wish those bulbs would have been easier to get ahold of/ and cheaper, i really like the looks.
I ordered bulbs off of autoilimination and didn't pay attention that it was each...and they don't give a drop down menu for qty...so I got 1 - 3157 and 1 - 194 in the mail today...:th_scratchhead:

So I will order 1 more of each tonight, and hopefully have the new bulbs in by next weekend. I really don't like the icky egg yolk look.

Oh, and had the LIM gasket and such changed last December...thought I smelled antifreeze. Didn't find any leaks tho. So I popped the radiator tube lid...its full, but its looking kinda icky/orange...
So it'll be getting a coolant flush.

And I plan on cleaning the engine bay on sunday after work so that we can see if there are any leaks. Also took the engine cover off :)

Its been a small step process.

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

Well, I washed the very dirty prix today.
Rain, farming, and dust on a white car do not mix.

Then I got the bright idea to clean the engine...got a can of engine cleaner cuz it's appeared to have never been done and is pretty bad with grease and what not.
So I sprayed it, let it sit for 15 minutes...then I chickened out with spraying it hard core cuz I was scared I was going to hurt something or make a belt slip from excessive wetness.
The top side of the engine is pretty good, but the side with the belt and down under on that side is still gross. Is it ok to stick the wand down in there and just spray the crap out of it with high pressure? (I was at the car wash).
The stuff smelled awful. I finished rinsing it as well as I could without thinking I was going to ruin something. Then I let it idle for 15 minutes like the can said. Fired right up and ran fine...started smoking like crazy off the exhaust manifold. Drove it home after the 15 minutes and it was still letting off a little smoke. And it still smells awful.
So, maybe next weekend I'll get brave again or you guys can convince me that I'm stupid and not going to hurt anything and just go to town spraying with the high pressure. I don't really want to do it at home with the garden hose as I don't have anywhere to let the gross stuff drain and there are animals around.
Also, I know simple green is some amazing stuff...but it can also do harm and be corrosive...is that ok to use on the engine? Also tire foam, But will that get the really caked on nasty build-up off?

One more retarded question, that mat on the underside of hood. I was gonna take it off to clean, but didn't have time. Does it really need to be on there?

Here are some after pictures. yes, i know..i forgot to take a before :(
But at least the engine cover is gone now..

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

i took my hood mat off to help take some heat out of the engine bay. It doesn't need to be there it just helps quite the engine down from the outside.

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

no it doesnt need to be there, but theres a good chance that the under side of the hood isnt painted

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

i know they arent completely coverd if its still factory paint under the hood, ive never heard that they smother the fire, more like add to the fire lol

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

get rid of that intake box girl.

Yes yes I know lol. I realized how hideous it looks today. I work at a hardware part time, so getting pvc and stuff is a piece of cake. I really plan to do it in the future.

Re: Danielle's 99 GT

just make sure no grease or oil etc is getting stuck down in your heat shields that cover the manifolds.... Fires like to start there.... take it from someone who knows haha. You won't harm anything by pressure washing the front of the engine by the belts ,pulleys etc...

Looks good though!

Whoa, fire? That scares me a little. There wasn't much grease in that area, so I'm hoping its ok. It idled for 15 min, drove home 5 minutes and the drive to work is 10 minutes. I think I'm done trying to wash it cuz I'm a pansey.
