Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Danielle's 99 GT :)

Actually Sean, it wasn't totally out of place... as noobish as it is, it makes PERFECT sense when you realize what happened here.

I'm just curious... What is debadge?
^ is the last post on PAGE 1 back on 3/20/2011. So our new guy, notices that, misses the other 32 pages, and ignores the time stamp and thinks "I will answer this" and poof.
:th_doh:

I congratulate you sir on a job well done.
It took me a few minutes to comprehend what happened, but it really woke me up.

Just a tiny update:
Went to Advance today and picked up the metalcast paint...purple can was the last on the shelf. Guy ringing me out asked if it was, i said yes...he goes well the discontinued it, so its your lucky day, you got the last one. Me...YAY!
So, unless I track down another can in town or order it online...idk if I will do the calipers in purple. Altho I really liked the way it turned out!

Andd......since I got the POR15 Friday (THANK YOU BILL!), I was thinking today, what if I did the whole inner bent part of the fender in black...would that look stupid?
That's where I am having rust issues in 2 small places, so I thought if I just went ahead and lined it all (even tho its not all rusting) it would help prevent it even more? Or is that dumb?
Here is what I'm thinking:

Like paint from my nail in towards the fender liner.
Voice your opinions, please.

And here are the pretty pictures:

It turned out good I think. I did a quick detail on the engine bay while I had things out of the way. It was nasty.
I don't know that I will do the dog bones, that might be a lot of purple going on.
I couldn't find a place to put the AEM stickers yet, so I left them off. The braces aren't flat enough and there wasn't enough open space on the PVC adapter. Oh well.

Next weekend or near future:
Pull wheels off and clean fender liners and fix rust.
While wheels are off, do a super mega clean job on them.
Anddd...I think I'm going to order a new rear inlay...still reflective purple but outlined in light silver so it pops more. Cuz it's hard to see against the gray fascia.
Oh, and last weekend I finally put the new cowl deflector in over the blower motor. So no more wet floor!

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

Thanks for the advice, keep them coming!

Ive tought about debadge and removing the pin stripe(its pretty rough in some areas).
And I do want to redo the tint so its black and not icky purple looking.

And I am actually located just south of fort wayne about 15 minutes.
Oh wow im about an hour and 20 mins away from Fort Wayne but nice car by the way and yeah i would agree on removing the pin stripe:)

I think it looks great not my kinda color but I deff think it works for you...you should deff find another can to do the calipers!

that looks like a fabulous paint job you did there Danielle
Thanks!

Looks great kinda changes color?
Thanks! It kinda does, but its more glittery than anything. The ground coat is super cool alone. It's like a silver flake kinda thing.
I was having issues with it down by the 2 bolt holes, so it may look kinda funny there.

Thanks. Pinstripe has been gone for over a year now and I never looked back after doing it!

That paint looks awesome!
I'll be doing mines in orange next week.
Any tips? Prep? Did you apply a clear coat?
It's so cool! Mine was pretty dusty, so make sure you have work area covered well and what not.
I just cleaned them up with wire brush and then wiped down with rubbing alcohol (all I had), primed them (had a little rust), put 3 coats of the ground on and let the final one dry for probably an hour and then did 2 of the purple, let dry another hour. And Yes I did clear them, I used some clear ceramic engine enamel that was 500*. Did 3 coats of that, let it sit 2 hours and installed them. Went pretty well. I had to use wd-40 on the bolts to get them loose, and that was my only issue getting the oil residue off, but it turned out ok.

I'm thinking about it! I think O'Reillys is supposed to have it, but I haven't looked at the local one yet.

Purples my theme, so it works. Boyfriend thought I was crazy, but oh well. lol
I plan on driving it till it goes no more, so I don't think I have to worry about selling it to a guy and them not wanting it cuz it has purple accents :p

He made it sound like just the purple. But idk. The can was rather dusty, it'd obviously been there awhile. Maybe just slow sales?

Thanks guys! It's growing on me for sure. The more I look at the picture, the more I think it does need the dog bones. I will attempt to maybe try them this weekend if time and weather allows.

Personally I would get some good rough sandpaper, like 320 to really get it off, and some 600/800 to smooth it back up. Sand both sides to get all the rust out, then get some self etching rustoleum primer, paint a basic white (wont be enough to really notice in that location, and then clear it to keep it protected. In that area with the salts and winter weather, if you don't do it right, it will rust around it and just ruin any paint you put down.
If you like the fender, do the small area right, it won't take much time, or much tape and you can fix it yourself.

PS: Paint looks FABULOUS!!! love the purple. Need more for the calipers to match.

That's kinda what I did last spring when I tried to bandaid it, but the paint didn't hold as you can tell. It just appears to be surface rust and not so much rusting thru, which is good imo. I'm hoping the por solves my problems for a little bit longer.

When I was on the stang forums there was a gal who did the entire underneath of her classic stang with POR 15. Mustang folks swear by the stuff.
