cooling issues

About 2 months ago i realized my car was over heating. I noticed my coolant wlow. I added until it was full. A whole gallon later... it was full. Back to normal no over heating.
Well today i noticed my car was getting hot. Car wouldn't blow out heat when idling only cold air. When.i would accelerate the temp would go down. And the heat would blow again. So added another half a gallon of coolant, and that seemed to fill it. Anyone got any ideas on the problem?

On the side where the serpentine belt is there's two coolant elbows that are extremely common to crack and or leak check those. Also make sure there's no radiator leaking.

Probably would help if we knew what you drove. My guess is lower intake manifold gasket leaking or coolant elbows.

No. It hasn't show. Any signs of anything until tonight. But i just filled it up again and filled tge resivior and just drove it and it never started to over heat, so i really don't know what to think

Well the first thing is to find where the antifreeze is going...did u actually drain ur oil pan and look at it? Cause there's really only so many places that it can go

As we said before, its the intake gaskets. Its a super common issue.

A leaky intake gasket will just eat coolant untill it blows out completely and you get a awesome chocolate milkshake in your crankcase.

From what I read, you arent seeing a single drop anywhere, so where else can the coolant go beside being burned up in the cylinders.

I have the exact same issue with my girl's 2005 NA minus the coolant loss.. I replaced the lower and upper intake plus the elbows. Before then, we had the engine tested with a dye to determine whether or not the heads were bad, but no issues.

what engine do you have? n/a or s/c? if n/a the upper intake fails and the engine eats the coolant. or it leaks into the engine oil and KILLS the engine.

you have much reading to do grasshopper.
