• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Aluminum coolant elbow

Got mine installed ;) I used gray rtv on mine because last time the plastic orings leaked and I had to take it all apart and fix it. Gray is less noticeable if some of it squeezes out too, I've used it on most of the engine.

Nice job Swiggles! They look nice and shiny! I wound up using a little gray RTV as well just to play it safe. I also used one of those soft metal cleanup brushes for 3/4" copper pipe to clean out the passages of any crud before installing the new elbows. It's so nice not to smell antifreeze after I shut her down now.

I can't help but think they're plastic painted with aluminum shiny paint like stuff.

I mean, I know they're aluminum, but my eyes!

Anybody tested their strength? :D

They are also available on the ZZP website. - Aluminum Coolant Elbows #
As far as total cost goes, it looks to be cheaper to order from ZZP for me.

Though if it sounds like a good idea to some to order extra O-rings just in case, anyone know the part number for the O-rings? I looked on the RockAuto site and couldn't find them. thanks for the help!!

zzp wants 15 bucks for them, are the zzp sold ones made of gold? and they are selling them like they made it or something. wtf is wrong with them?

They charge that for the plastic ones too. They are a buisness, they aren't going to make money if they sell them for what they buy them for.

Lol zzp just added them after this topic was posted on clubgp too, these have been available since 2005.

I saw that someone posted that but not sure if it is true considering how many issues they had with the plastic ones. They actually revamped the plastic elbows with a new number (I dont know what they changed) before they started to phase those out and go to the metal ones.

When I googled the part number I saw a post from a local MN grand prix board about them that was from 2005.

Really?

Can't seem to find any solid evidence that they really are that old.

If you searched heater hose fitting on dormans site six months ago this wouldnt come up.

I searched it at work one day, and I saw it there.

Posted it up here, and from there it spread.
