They carry them now??
i have a 98, that means i have no lower elbow, its a casted elbow off the alt bracket that slips into the timing cover. it needed a new O ring and i used the one off the second unused elbow.
what im saying is they work just fine.
coolant elbows is a 30 minute job really.
take the alt off, pop the 2 hoses off to the heater core, remove the 3 bolts holding it on, and pull on it till the old elbows break, they never seem to come off in one piece, clean out all the holes that the elbows fit into.
oil the O rings and slide them all back together.
It really is the easiest job in the world, it takes 10-15 minutes max to get it off ya know, and really you don't have to pull the 2 heater hoses off of the tensioner. I've NEVER done that. The tensioner moves just fine with the hoses attached.
On these alum elbows, is it okay to just use the o-rings that come with them? They look like pretty decent ones.
Just use some RTV with them so they dont leak around the o-rings. I have replaced two sets on mine with in a few months and I RTV the most recent GM set that I am currently using.
