• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Air to Air Intercooler....

I went out and was looking at things earlier... My biggest problem right now will be with the fuel rails.. I will have to figure something out with that... Cause I am thinking the core I build will require me to do something with them cause it will be too thick.
Could you not use modded rails? What issues with the MAF and TB have you come across?

No, the problem with the MAF is that there is such a long distance between MAF and intake it makes tuning kinda tricky.

Kinda the same issue with throttle response. Would have to wait for the blower to pressurize all the air in the IC lines before I would get boost.

I say try it Josh. I would make a template of the WBS core, almost double the height, and put the ports in. It would basically need to be cut through the height diagonally. I think it'd be cool and would like to see someone try it.

I am for sure going to look into it. I have a few photos of the Holden ones I will prolly use for design references.

So you are taking away one of the advantages to supercharges. No lag.

wrong... The amount of time it takes to "fill'" charge tube is basically in-mesurable.

The problems come with change in how the stock fuel injection expects to work. it adds some complications but its still functional enough if you stay efficient with the system.

I would guess that the easiest way to set the "record" for most power out of a blower would involve something similar to this.

Modded fuel rails allow you to clear the blower with an IC build.

ZZP has them for $150 unless you wanted Billet ones which will cost you a pretty penny.

i made my own water to air IC for my mazdaspeed3, ran great, plan to do the same for this platform. very easy to do. even finding a universal core will work, just get the correct measurements.

We've had those for years...

oops i mis-read thread. why would you want to go air/air?

if built correctly water/air will beat air to air 10/10

Not from what I have read... Water to air will only get as cool as the hot water... where as air will get as cool as the ambient temps of the air. Plus W2A has more danger involved with it.

and air will only get as cool as the temp outside figure both scenarios, hot air blowing hot air from a hot engine, is to be cooled by lets just say a hot day outside, it is going to be hot no matter what, the water is able to retain some of the heat from the water therefore cooling it better, because it is obsorbing some of the heat and lowering temp. to optimize a L2A you would want a cold tank, or cry02 sprayer.

what danger? water leaks out? water temp guage sir.

Water leaks into intake.

3800 M90 intercoolers use heater cores.

They work, but only for a couple years.

Either way, you're going to want a properly designed system.

why not plumb a heat exachanger into the system, unless you are speaking of the same thing. water leaks onto intake? That would soley depend on the location of the lines and IC.

He says water leaks INto the intake.. From the IC core. The part that sits between the blower and LIM.

Look at what an intercooler core for an M90 looks like.

If you were turbo, then you're fine. But that's a huge investment for a W body.

you clearly dont understand how a ic works or how it could leak into the intake? do you?
