85 Turbo Trans Am

Re: 85 trans am!!!

Depends on what your after. Those intakes you suggested are good for building torque more than HP (except LS6). LS6 is a great intake for mild bolt on's and even a little bit of N2O as long as you are under 150 shot. It is what I had and I'm now way past bolt ons so the LS6 is not enough for my goals with this build. FAST 102's are much better for the bigger ci builds. More air volume = more power when tune for it. Not trying to turn this into what's better argument.

Even though I do look at tech I'm not on there enough, on other sites more. What seems to be the current rage on tech is the Victor Jr intakes....

Travis - it still needs tune, I'll be doing speed density for couple of reasons; 1) I'm at sea level so no worries on DA issues, 2) I don't have to spend $500 on a large enough MAF and deal with a tuning nightmare getting it to work.

So where you moving too?

Re: 85 trans am!!!

Re: 85 trans am!!!

Well as soon as the roads are decently good the block crank heads connecting rods pistions and intake are going to the machine shop

Re: 85 trans am!!!

Okay so was cleaning the pistons and found these two the other 6 are good was thinking to just replace these two good bad idea? And what hell caused this and there is no damage to the heads

Re: 85 trans am!!!

Idrivejunk You know anything Im pretty sure it's where it smashed into a valve like timing was off or knocking

Re: 85 trans am!!!

Yeah naw yeah I did look at those... those reliefs could have been cut crappy by mistake when the pistons were modified by a machinist. At least that single wild one. It does appear that yeah a broke timing chain or valve spring or float may have occurred. The OK looking piston tops may not mean good on the rest. Reusing pistons is sketchy to me but I'm not an engine builder. Skirts, pin areas, ring areas all can have problems. Then theres weight variance to check... proceed at your own risk!

Re: 85 trans am!!!

Thanks I found the exact ones for $147 full set of 8. So Im doing that.
