4THGEN'S Failstar

Or just build one?

I'd hate to price a bottom end re-build but if the failure rate is that horrible...I'd just suck it up and then that gives you an excuse to clean everything up and make it to where you know it was done right.

Then, longtubes, ported heads, intake, exhaust? LOL :D

I've actually thought if I ever came across one for the right price I'd snag up a black one, tint it...and do a Corsa setup.

Like this: Cadillac STS with corsa exhaust - YouTube

This.

Especially because they run a V1 radar.

Its easy with the motor in. Take the boot out. Stick a socket with a long extension down the hole and take her out. I'd love a Corsa but $1100 for a catback is stupid

Been super busy at work and didn't see ths til now. Great job. Not sure on the pump etc. It's moot now though.

yeah..there's a lot to unhook/hook up.

No prob Bill. Question for ya though. The cruise doesn't work and the brake lights dont work.(Except for the top LED bar) The fuse for the brake lights is good. All of the parking lights work as they should.

Any ideas?

Cruise didn't work because brake lights don't work probably. You checked all the bulbs? Over all how hard would you say this swap was?

They're related yes. It's got a C1294 code which is for "brake lamp circuit always active". Basically the car thinks I'm always on the brakes and is shutting the cruise off. Why it thinks this is beyond me as I put a new brake switch in and it functions as it should. (Lights turn on and off as they should when using the pedal)

Let's play what's wrong with the FAILSTAR. Ok. As sad before its got the C1294 code for the brake circuit always being on. BOTH switches have been replaced. I even went as far as to test the connector on the trunk. When the parking lights are on every pin has power except for the reverse and ground, as they shouldn't. When I turn the parking lights off and hit the brake I get absolutely nothing. The fuse has been swapped with another. No change. I'm really at a loss here. The C1294 keeps coming back.

Other random info. Cruise control doesn't wont and the torque converter won't lock up since the car thinks I'm on the brakes constantly.

THE FUUUUCK IS WRONG WITH MY CAR

Ok..getting back on topic. You don't get power to the lights from what I'm hearing and the 3rd IIRC is always on a seperate feed circuit to keep a safety back there.

Did you check that you are getting power on both sides of the fuse and the rest of what Scott mentioned? Find a couple of N* forums and search the hell out of them. I should be able to pull that code up. I'm assuming you cleared the code and it comes right back?

Thanks Bill. Yes lights have been checked. I'll have my Dad check for power at the fuse since I'm 600+ miles away now

Ok. One step closer to getting this damn thing going. Tested for power at the brake switch and nothing. Now going to check for power at the multifunctional switch as the brakes are ran through it. If there's power at the switch and no power afterwards then I'm ordering a switch

Bill can you exlpain what's going on here? Sorry for the blurriness, it's the only diagram I could find for the switch.
