Hmm, I got the alternate spring rates. 9k and 12k. I'll have to look up what people say or swap instead of these.

cheap coilovers are cheap because they cut corners places. and yes, BC coilover are cheap.

the shock body basically is what it is. so long as it doesn't fail then it will be fine.

the shock valving and the spring are the other two places they can cut corners. the shock valving can be redone by a few places (i will be sending my coilovers to feal when i order them to revalve them for different spring rates). the springs can also be upgraded. even a standard metric spring from eibach or hyperco would be light years ahead of the springs they come with.

so a cheaper upgrade to keep you happy is to switch the springs. my vote is swift. they damn well make the best springs you can buy.

the other option is springs AND revalving the shocks to upgrade the components and make sure they'll work appropriately with the spring rates you're running.



or run them as-is like TONS of others have done and be done with it. i'm just trying to give helpful hints to improve your setup without telling you to go out and buy a set of KW V3.

I agree with Bio.

Also, if I knew you were doing coilovers, I would have told you to check out these guys. I found out about these guys after the coilovers on the Grand Prix, if I ever get coilovers again, I'll be going through these guys.

They don't have a G8 yet, but you can inquire and they could probably set it up, that is how they expand their catalog.

fortune auto is going to be on par with all of those JDM style coilovers in the $900-1300 range. i wouldn't heavily favor them over any of the others.

the only one i really favor is stance because they're pretty local to my area so i can readily get parts from the chicago area at the togue factory.

I wasn't looking to spend a bunch on the coilovers. I was going to go with some fe3 and tein s springs at first. I came across these on a little discount at the same time I was selling my grand prix coilovers. So it was kinda a spur of the moment purchase trade off. As far as sending them in for re valving n all that, I don't know the first thing about that stuff. And I really don't want to spend the money on just experimenting. I would possibly get some different springs since that's an easy swap. Although, idk how much time n money I'd wanna put into these. I won't be driving the car as a daily usually and with these being used by a bunch like you said, I might just keep em how they are. If they are horrible and I can't stand how stiff or bouncy they are and not being able to get em dialed in right, they'd probably just come off. Well see though, I always change my mind lol. Thanks for the info tho. N ik you know your stuff. Haha

eh...a lot of what i say is hearsay, but i try to keep my "facts i learned from the internet" to a minimum.

either way i know a lot of dudes with BCs (mainly on subarus) who claim the swift spring upgrade is night and day for ride quality.

Yeah just by a quick search, I seen a lot of bc's with the offer of swift upgrade. How would I go about it. Measure my springs and let them know, or just compare and stuff? The fronts are a single diameter and I can measure that and the length. The rears are the cone styled, so Idk how id go about it. Also rates, mine are just 9k and 12k, I seen there's are measured by a different type. I guess Google can adjust the equals to for me as far as that goes..

Also, are they 85 a piece or for the set..it doesn't really say individually priced or set on a site I was looking..

These are all by quick searches too. I'm busy running around till after Christmas now lol.

same length, same spring rate. that's what you want to shoot for.

i am unsure of the rear spring, though. i'm fairly sure you could swap in a standard metric coilover spring, but it being the cone shape makes me believe that it's a progressive spring.

$85 sounds like a per spring price. i didn't say they were cheap, hah.

oh, i'm well aware you can option them out. you can also option our the rest of the coilover sets, but then they aren't bottom dollar coilovers anymore...

Haha. Yeah that's not cheap for a spring. Also, it only showed upgrades for the front springs on those. So maybe that's all I can upgrade..

I do agree with swapping out the springs with Swifts, might as well do it now before they go in the car.

I had BC's.

I now need back surgery.

Mine were maxed out for quite some time though...but I'll tell you what, for as bad as Missouri roads are, they did last for a couple years.

hmmmmmmm...so the rear spring rate is really too high for the shock.

And you don't have to weld when you run sleeved ground controls unless you are shortening the strut...only if you are doing more than the usual shorten the rod...never weld a loaded pressurized shock.

And it doesn't surprise me that K-sport was a total chump at helping, k-sport is a garbage company these days.

Just have the coilovers, not on yet until spring. They're a page or so back in the box tho lol.

Bottom line is everyone has different experiences with their setups. I'm sure they'll be fine for a non-DD

I DD'd mine.

Put like 30k~ on them.

If you don't drive the car often, they'll be fantastic.

Just keep in mind you'll want to install, align. Drive for a few hundred HARD miles. Re-align. 500~ or so miles is the normal give time for them, according to the guy I talked to.
