2000 Grand Prix Gt ideas

yeah.........it isnt like 4.50 a gallon like a couple years back........thank god. Hopefully the prices stay were they are at or come down a little. We will see. If you are SC then you are already running premium so it doesnt matter as much to us....LOL

is that sssm90 kit any good i dont wana do top swap jus got new motor put in with low miles
so this would be the perfect time to get the top swap, then right?
Why don't you want to do it now? I dont know much of the ssm90 kit....hopefully others that do will chime in...

no like it pisses me off cuz i wanted to do it and the dude that redid my motor said it would be too much work and jus got me a regular 3.8 from the junkyard with like 50,000 miles on it other wise i would love to do top swap. and ssm90 looks tight but you gotta by like 4 other things with it ughhhhh more money down the drain

no that is what top swapping is........you use your stock NA lower end with a SC on top.....you use the SC heads and intake stuff but you use your NA block. Because your NA block is higher compression you will make more power than you would if you had the entire stock SC setup. I just looked at the ssm90 kit and it sucks because you dont want their pcm on anything supercharged unless you want to buy new motors all the time. That PCM is half of the cost of that kit. I will get you some info on the top swap.........

of course the ultimate way to go is turbo set up, but to do it right you will need at least 5-10k .......and dont do it half-a$$ed either....I dont know how much money you have to stick in it or what you are looking to spend.......options are pretty much unlimited until you have kind of a budget set up and you let us know how much work you can do yourself........how mechanically inclined are you? How experienced are you working on cars?

lol im 17 with a summer job that banks thats why i got money and me and my dad do some **** on cars but if i had anything done like this prolly pay some one to do it. but ya i would love to do top swap

look in the na section(which we are in now) it is one of the top couple of threads....look for the one that says top swap........not sure why link doesnt work

im still not understanding i read the top swap guide. this dosent sound to bad but like i said could i take it some where and they could get parts and things or is it better for me to gather them all first? and if i got new pcm would it be useless after the swap just wonderin?

the PCM would be useless after a top swap, but there is nothing like doing the top swap yourself to learn the internals of the car so you know how to fix everything. take a weekend and do it on your own.

even if you are not going to do the work yourself, take the time and find the parts yourself if you want to save some money. If money is not an object, then have someone else get all of them for you.......see if you can find them at a junkyard or from Morad Parts company......if you can get a good deal from them. You will need a new PCM after the top swap or a retuned PCM....
