1999 gtp

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

Stockers are ~36#, you would probably be fine with 42.5#

Tuning is relatively easy for E85, you don't have to worry about knock, the AFR that ethanol makes power in is pretty wide. The only thing you have to worry about is too much timing and boost to blow a head gasket, you probably still won't see any knock.

The biggest thing is limiting yourself to E85 stations, you should have another pcm on hand or plan on never taking a road trip.

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

Whats a good price for a used aero force intercepter, or are their other gauges becides the aero force i could use that are good?

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

Used aeroforce goes for roughly $180

You could always get a Scan gauge II. Those cost $150.

Most people don't buy those because they can't fit in a pod or data log but they work just fine.

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

E-85 is closer to 96 octane if you did the conversion correctly.

Because of the lower heating value E85 has a cooler intake charge—which, coupled with its high stability level from its high octane rating—has also been used as a "power adder" in turbocharged performance vehicles. These modifications have not only resulted in lower GHG emissions, but also resulted in 10-12% power and torque increase at the wheels.

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

I don't know it they show air fuel ratio and KR though, I could be wrong though

You need a wideband o2 sensor gauge if you are going to run that fuel, its a must when tuning, a normal scangauge can't read that.

The scangauge can read just about everything else from KR, trans temps, coolant temps, timing etc etc etc.

Yeah I would send my stock PCM in then have 2 if I did it ! I can't even get 91 in my town I have to go to ames Boone desmoines!

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

Did my control arms today rides way good, I need a new caliper now something got f-ed up, idk the bolt would not go in for some reason, so I force it to the threads and now the threads are f-ed. Sorry for no pics camera is messed up ): Will take pic tomorrow with crappy iPad camera!

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

E85 is awesome, 60# injectors work great. You have to tune it no matter what anyway and 60's are generally not much more $$$ than 42.5's so no reason not to go for them. Stock pump will be fine on most normal m90 builds even with e85. I ran mine stock pump and stock wiring down to a 3.1" pulley no problems. An Aeroforce will read Wideband AFR too it just takes a few extra pieces. E85 isn't 115 octane either but it is decent. On my setup I went from a 3.4" and stock timing (16*) to the 3.1" pulley and 22* just from doing e85 and it still had room for more I never saw any KR what so ever. As far as mpg I averaged around 17.5mpg on e85 down from around 21mpg on 93. If your going to start getting into your car that far you might just want to find a DHP used for $250 and learn basic tuning yourself, it would be just as good as any canned tune. Then you can swap tunes on the fly when you need to.

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

Thanks for the info man, I will probably have to do it, and running 91 right now I get about 17.6 MPG but I really could give a care about MPGS as long as its not lower than 6 MPG lol

Re: 99 gtp (e85?)

Oh yea, one of my first mods was a DHP powertuner. If I had to pay someone every time I needed adjustments made it would be ridicules, between gear ratio changes, maf changes, fuel changes, pulley/timing changes and transmission adjustments I would have paid to be tuned 15 times now. I'm always tweaking and tuning something in there. Plus I help do basic tunes for everybody and their brother around here. I got a friend that l67 swaps blown up 3800 cars off of CL that always needs files transferred and VIN changes or anti-theft deactivated.

Re: 99 gtp MAGA Spring Pic Upload

Very sexy blue ride you got there, it must be picture whoring day. I got a few shots myself.
