Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

was that stuck bolt held up in there with old sealant or something?

and a metal gasket? have not seen that one yet.

Yeah it was, either old sealant or just nasty 174k dried up coolant. Lol something along those lines, either way, it was pretty stuck on there.

Yeah, my water pump came with a Metal Gasket. Ended up bending it taking it out of the package. Went to 5 other parts stores to get another one. They do now sell Metal Water Pump Gaskets, but they are much harder to find.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

Here's a pull I did in the car last night. I have sticky speedo needle, so you kind of have to use your imagination from 40-70 on a constant acceleration. The needle just hang ups inbetween 40-50 and then plays catch-up from 50-70. Oh well, you get the idea.

Rolled into WOT to prevent wheel spin. I wouldn't done a longer pull, but I ran out of road.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

Not too bad.... We will have to line the cars up again soon.

I timed one run I did.

0-60 in 5.5 seconds. Obviously unofficial and off but my 0-60 time could be somewhere in that ballpark. Car ran like a raped ape last night. 25 degrees with dry roads.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

Do you have a shift kit in the trans? Or a tune for it? 1-2 seemed like it wasn't up for the power.

Yeah. Shift kit, 4340 Input Shaft, and Hardened 4th.

The 1-2 scares me. Josh is my "tuner" and has me shifting at 6200 on the 1-2 shift. I'd like it to be backed down to about 6000. I rarely ever got WOT just because of that first shift.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

You SHOULD be able to shift at 6200... But we can take a look at it again soon if you want.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

Considering 6k is already 400 rpm above stock I think that's pretty good. I usually only see turbo builds go past 6200. Adjust the pressure settings a bit as well, idk how your other shifts are though. Looks like stock pressure at much higher power level.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

Almost all can builds I've seen shift 6-6600. His car should be able to do it. Not sure what the issue is.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

I'm sure you'll figure it out, whether it be the tune or trans itself. But I'm not a tuner

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

Shouldn't be the trans. Was professionally rebuilt with the extra parts about 30k miles ago.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Double Din.

The other Kenwood double Din I had, I sold it and purchased another Kenwood Double Din off Craigslist that's much newer and has many more features.

Kenwood DDX418 6.2" Touch Screen - Comes with:
- Garmin Navigation
- Bluetooth
- USB
- Aux Port
- Phone/Messaging

The button layout on the left can be changed to any color you want, even custom colors you can make. The background can also be changed to anything you want, just have to upload a picture via USB and set it as your background.

The Navigation is a bit out-dated. Few years old. I'll be Downloading and updating the latest Garmin Maps for this.

Time to do some wiring:

In and installed, everything works great:

Blurry Picture, but also has hands-free phone and messaging. Just connect your phone via Bluetooth and your contacts/call history comes up.

Mic:

GPS Satellite:

Pretty sweet radio, I'd say. Going to purchase a remote for it as well.

*Yes, I know the radio sits at little crooked in there. It obviously isn't screwed in, just sitting there tight for the time being.

I'll need to modify the dash so it doesn't look so goofy in there. I'll pick up a Junk Yard dash bezel sometime soon, take some measurements, hopefully find some write-ups and help from others, and see what I can do.
