IMO....2-3-4-8,those would catch my attention the most if they were in a magazine or calendar.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Calendar Pics.

Taking an Automatic Transmissions class in school, and one of my labs was too do a pan drop/filter change. Figured my group and I could do my car as it's been around 30,000 miles since the rebuilt transmission. Plus I get free fluid, so who want to do it? Ran to NAPA and got a Filter/Gasket for $20 (Student Discount).

New filter in:

Underbody of the car doesn't look half bad compared to others:

Had a scare though, after all said and done, putting in some new Dex 6, it was leaking. Took the pan off again, cleaned it real well, cleaned the gasket, cleaned the trans, and my professor flattened out my pan (as it was slightly bent). Put it all back together, leaked again. Come to find out, there's a small hole in the dipstick tube by the bracket. Will eventually need a new tube. Just shoved a bunch of rags up there, and fixed the issue to get the fluid in. Added 5.5 quarts, and after a 10 minute drive home, rechecked it, needs another 1/2-3/4 quarts.

Any who, basically did a pan drop with new fluid for $27. I'll take that any day. Oh, and found out I have a bad outer tie rod :th_angry2:

Plus an alignment. But I have two alignment racks at school. So much free service, I love it.

Saved myself $70+ on a pan drop. Awesome.

Curious if you know how many quarts it typically needs after a pan drop? I'm at 6 quarts right now.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Calendar Pics.

I put more in. I'm at 7 quarts right now and its right at about the max line. Going to check again later.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Calendar Pics.

Is it that rubber ring around the dipstick tube? If so just go buy a new o-ring for it and seal her up properly

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Calendar Pics.

Nope its not. My professor, me, and another student looked at it. We put the car up on the hoist, and I climbed a latter and put fluid in, while the other two looked to where the leak was, there's an actual hole by the bracket on the tube.

Mine took about 8 after I dropped the pan, but that was with taking the accum out and doing a shift kit.
