Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

At least someone understands.

Whether redoing it myself or having a professional do it, all came down to the price. $300 to have it done, is worth it to have it done right and reliable for many for miles to come when my baby arrives.

And yes, I am beyond upset that the car didnt work right, I've contemplated redoing it myself, but for how much of a deal I'm getting, I'm just going to stick with that.

I hear ya...I remember working on my old 4dr civic after dropping a gsr motor I swapped the tranny and replaced head gasket...my dumb*ss forgot to switch torque converters cause I was rushing along...ended paying a friend of mine (a local honda guru) $150 to deal with it...was way too upset to try and deal with the car again...at least you're getting the work done right and for a good price...looks pretty at least :th_thumbsup-wink:

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

Car got towed today. Off to the hospital she goes:

Also picked up some paint to do the body work on my car, still need some bondo:

Anyone know the paint code for the silver part on the front fascia? I'm going to need that when I repaint my front air dam.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

The car is finished and runs good.

Next weekend I'll be getting a tune from Josh and that will most likely be it for performance with the car. Will attempt to touch up the body this weekend, let's see how that goes.

Haven't beaten on the car really, nor done any WOT pulls. Going to change the oil again around 300-500 miles and then after that, I'll see what she can really do with the new parts.

I also undercoated the body with some rubberized spray from Duplicolor. It's already pretty rusty along the rockers, but might as well save whats still there.

Full list of parts, Engine:
-L76 Springs
-Ported/Polished Heads
-1.9 Harland Sharp Roller Rockers
-Gen V
-3.4
-10.5mm ZZP Plug Wires
-ARP Head Studs
-Poly Dogbone Bushings
-Poly Upper Engine Mount
-AL104's
-SLP Headers
-Intake

Trans:
-Fully Rebuilt
-4340 Input Shaft
-Hardened 4th
-Shift kit

Decent build. Definitely a quick 4-door grocery getter. Will be a good car for the baby to ride in. ;)

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

why you no clean that trany up, its the only dirt i see.

other then my nit picking it looks damn good. i like the red and black combo. not to much not to little, nice job

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

You can't go wrong with the red/black combo.

Didn't really feel like cleaning anything that wasn't needed. Just wanted to get the car together.

It may not be very fast, but it sure does look like it under the hood. All about how you make it look. Lol

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

Totally after your 500 miles I'm expecting burnout vids

The tires on the car right now, Pirelli P4, seem to stick very well to the pavement. Burnouts are very minimal, sadly.

Good to see you got her going Dan o

Now it's time for you to finish your car. It's only been two weeks for mine too be up and running. Lol

Vrooom vroom.. congrats

And I even mentioned to the guy about the dots on the pedestals, and how they need to be facing the valve stem. Sometimes I do listen, Bill.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

Here is also a picture of my original valves. Not too pretty.

Didn't know they came orange from the factory. :th_laugh-lol2:

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

I figured they were Orange for getting so hot.

The car has ran a 10.0 AFR at WOT now for at least a year.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

Glad you got it back Dan and that the whole filling the silencer ports didn't do more damage.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, The Final Project.

Plus, aren't you commanding less then that, just your WB pegs at 10.0

Yeah, I'm really commanding a 9.8.

But not for long. :th_king-evil:

I have to finish porting my heads first. I have the rear head on the car already :D

So if you already have the rear head on and completed with one left, that means you have to finish porting your other "head"? Hmmmm.

Glad you got it back Dan and that the whole filling the silencer ports didn't do more damage.

Not really any damage at all from it. Nothing I could find. Everything was just worn out and nasty, like the pictures I posted.

Maybe second time closing the ports is the charm? ;)

Kidding, I'm no attempting it again.
