Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

Yay for issues with the car.

Sitting at stop waiting for a train too pass, my car starts idling at 1500~ RPM, stock boost gauges was at 1-2 bars at idle, my Aerforce was reading -3 to +2 MAP. As soon as I hit the gas, my wideband shows a 10.5 AFR just to get the car to move from a stop and idling high/shifting harsh. Coolant temp was also all over the place as well, I saw as low as 168* while babying the car home. Pull up some codes and get P0560 and P1635. My main concern is the P1635 = 5 volt reference circuit low. Doesn't specify which sensor is bad though. So I went out and bought a Digital Multimeter from Sears, and now it's time to start back probing the connectors of sensors. Hopefully I'll find the issue, and off to the Junkyard I go for some sensor(s).

If it makes you feel any better, I gotta go out and try to fix my HIDs

Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

Haven't started yet. I'm pretty sick so I just woke up from a nap. The last thing I want to do is go to a junk yard with strep throat and 30 degree weather. Lol

man this sucks, im thinking after im finished tuning, im gonna put my car for sale and buy something different

Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

Ended up back probing most sensors. ECT - 12v, MAF 12v, TPS - 5v/.3v+ with throttle opening, MAP 5v, IAC - 9v

Everything seemed to be fine, but ended up going to the junk yard anyways. Picked up a Remanufactured MAF sensor and a used IAC sensor. Installed both and the car seems to be running fine. Took it for a 10 miles drive and no issues. Cleared the codes, and no codes have been popping up afterwards. Only time will tell now.

Here's my old MAF with the crack in it:

Here's a heartbreaker though... At the junk yard I always snoop around to see what I can find, on my way out I spotted the shell of an 04+ Grand Prix. Went over there, and the car was a GTP with full leather interior and Gen V still intact. Virtually nothing removed. Getting excited I start to tear into the motor to snag the Gen V/LIM but before I was finished, over the intercom I heard the Junk Yard was closing and I had to check out. I was so upset.. :th_crying1:

Why would you do that with all the work you've put into it?

i dunno, lots of cosmetic issues, need to build trans, suspension, oil pan gasket, etc. maybe i just need to take a break from it for now

you better go back tomorrow and snag it

Im really thinking about it.

I either want the Gen V/LIM or the full leather front/rear seats. I'm not getting both, too expensive. But which one to choose from. Hmmmmmmm.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

Go get that GenV I only ever found 1 in the u-pull-it near me, they sold it to me for $35

but...

04+ leather seats over a GenV is a very hard choice
