Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

Finally decided to winterize the Prix. Dear god, this car looks like crap with steelies.

Snow Plow edition:

Cleaning the rims before storage:

Also went to the junkyard for a few parts for the Grand Am, and while I was there, ended up finding this just laying on the ground. $8 rear strut tower brace? Sure, can't go wrong.

Dat burrrr doe:

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

Also installed a new stock thermostat, took the 180* out and put in a 195*

Other than that, no cool updates. Just small things here and there and racking up miles. Hopefully for Christmas I might treat myself to some new Borla Pro XS, a Glasspack, and new G8 GXP tips. Mhmmmmm.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

Weren't you tuned for a 180* tstat?

Ha, tuned. That's funny when you say that when talking about my car.

Not really, Ryan didn't tune me at all, I spent $200 to have my fans stay on 60 seconds after the car is off.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

Well ok you got me there... Lol. But srrsly were your fab settings changed for a 180*?

No. Unless I'm unaware of this happening.

Andrew's tune = 9.7 command AFR. That's about it.

Ryan's tune = 10.5 command AFR and fans stay on 60 seconds after car is off.

That really sums it up.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

Well ok then... If your car was tuned for a 180* and you throw a 195* in it your fans will be on all the tyme

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

I could tune you danny boy. Couldn't hurt it at least lol

I've been wanting to get a hold of you. Whatever you do, can't be worse than what I have.

Especially for MPG too, getting 230 to the tank is killing me. Fuel wash, Ftw.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

I might be in goshen, IN on sunday if I don't have to work. Not sure how far that is for you though.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

I'll text you if that ends up being my plan on sunday. I'll let you know by thursday or so.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

Josh and I seen some tips on an Impala the other day that were just almost as long as yours. I tried getting a pic but you know my camera is foggy :p

I'm curious to see if the hotter temp would improve your gas mileage..

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

HOLD THE FVCKING PHONE!!!

Are you serious about getting rid of the INFAMOUS tips?

.........carry on then :th_jester:

You heard me right, sir.

These tips have served me well, and became known over the 3800 world. But it is time to move on.

Maybe ill put them in the for sale section so they can go to a new home. The legend must be continued. :th_laugh-lol3:

Did you swap your Tstat?

Yes, I swapped it a few days ago.

This is the only reason why I swapped back to 195* thermostat.

When your barely squeaking 230 miles to a tank, every little increase means the world to me. Lol changing to hotter tstat can't make things worse.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now Slower, But Yet Faster.

Well, sorry to all my fellow GPFers, the tips I currently have on my car, will soon be off and replaced. The legend of the long tips is coming to an end.

As a Christmas gift, I received these:

G8 GXP tips. I am super excited to have them on my car. Will look very good.

I will soon be buying Borla Pro XS mufflers and a decent size Glasspack, then I will have all of them welded on together. It's been almost 6 months since any changes to this car, so I'm happy to be blowing more money on it soon. :)
