Re: 1997 Black GTP, LIM Has Been Completed.

I left Brandon a message of what it is..

Remove the EGR tube under the TB, from EGR to LIM. Pull back the holding part of it at the LIM end and look at the huge crack in it. This is super uber common. I'd think it's that or someone flubbed the TB gasket/didn't clean the old one off fully.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, LIM Has Been Completed.

i have a cylinder 7 misfire come up out of the blue. i has one the interstate driving home and once i got into town it started acting up.. but a reader on it and just deleted the code.. haven't had a problem since then with it.

Yeah...

I have a cylinder 7 misfire as well. Very common with my car...

I will go back and take a gander at this.

Hopefully its just somehting real simple.

Real simple.. it doesn't get much easier than listening to me, removing 1 13mm bolt and 1 13mm nut, looking at the part and saying.. "Bill's right, look at that huge crack in this thing"

Re: 1997 Black GTP, LIM Has Been Completed.

...and if there is no crack?

Not that I'm doubting your wisdom or ability to call out a problem based on little to no information, but what if?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, LIM Has Been Completed.

Well then I'd look to suggestion number 2. :th_nanana:

Thankfully..I posted two possibilities that are common when doing an LIM gasket. Want a third? They didn't put a dab of rtv in the corners on top of the LIM gaskets. Typically not going to be an issue. IAC should take care the unmetered air into the crankcase/pcv into TB, if the gasket didn't seal well. But I doubt this is an issue at all.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, LIM Has Been Completed.

Bill, Brandon took the LIM back off and put RTV in the corners on top of the gaskets. So I dont think thats an issue.

I believe something isnt sitting right. Either the blower/LIM/TB. All vac lines are hoooked up properly and have no holes in them. The vac lines are practically all brand new.

When I was spraying carb cleaner around the LIM/Blower bolts, the car acted like it was going to die.. Kinda sputtered then came back to life.

And on a side note: The misfire only happens at idle. After I give it some gas and do usually driving it disappears, but at idle, that's when the misfire arises. (According to my torque app), it also doesnt pull a code either. My dash is clear of all lights.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, LIM Has Been Completed.

Well last I checked Dan-o u do have a spare blower gasket just hanging out... Could try taking that off and re-seating it. Wouldn't hurt.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, LIM Has Been Completed.

Ahhhh so you know where it's leaking and didn't give us that info? Seems like a loaded question to me.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, LIM Has Been Completed.

Here Bill.

I came on GPF this morning, a replied to one of your posts saying "Ill go back and take a gander at it" (That was 6 hours ago).

Then I went to the gym to workout.

Came home and hosed the LIM/Blower bolts down with carb cleaner and posted my results from doing that (That was 3 hours ago).

So, I did not know of the problem before hand until about 3 hours ago.

In this case, when Thursday rolls around, I'm pulling off the blower and re-tightening all LIM bolts. (Re-painting the blower and fuel rails while they are off), and putting the blower back on and making sure every bolt is quite snug. Going to clean the injectors as well while those are off. Put everything back together and hope no more Vac leak.

Sound like a good plan?

Re-painting always fixes the problem on a Grand Prix.
