The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.
Looks like I will be doing the swap next month! The heads are all done. I ported them, seated/ lapped the Si valves, installed new seals, and installed the springs. All cleaned and painted. The tb is basically done being ported and I just started porting the sc today. The outlet is looking great! I might be able to get started in the inlet today too. The lim was gasket matched to the heads. So pretty much the air coming in will have a very smooth path to follow. The exhaust is really good too along with the headers, I shouldn't have any issues there. I got a parts list together of what I still need:
-sc belt
-AN steel fuel lines
-install pulley on blower
Nothing lately. Time and money have put a delay on installing everything. Hopefully this summer I will get it all in. I pretty much have everything except for the sc belt, new wide band sensor, and upgraded fuel lines I want to do. In the mean time I have had fun tuning it with the hv3 and other mods.
I took the car for a run at the track to set a base line before and after for the upcoming topswap. Current NA mods are:
-mild ported TB
-HV3
-SD headers w/ custom 2.5" exhaust
-180* stat, FWI
Results!!! 14.953 @ 91.47mph w/ 2.162 60' time Not as fast as my Old PB with the DOHC, but I did not remove my spare tire, jack, tools, speaker box, had 3/4 tank of gas and I have put on about 30-40lbs since that time.... the car did quite well.
The current plan is to install the top swap this summer. I have read that top swapping is said to lower 1/4 about 1 full second. with the extra mods im planning I hope for just a little more. The plan is for:
-Ported heads Complete -Ported Blower In progress
-Northstar TB In progress with blower
-L76 Springs Planned
-1.9 Roller rockers Optional
Slowly but surely, good to see you haven't given up. For the top swap you really do need some kind of valvetrain modification. I didn't have the money to go with a cam so I found some YT 1.8 rockers for a good price.
I had a set of SLP 1.8 roller rockers that i sold when i was between jobs. Im thinking about 1.9 rr now. or wait and do a GT1 or GT2 cam a year or so after the swap. But in the mean time the port work on the heads and the Si Valves should help.
Ok more updates: I just got a set of L76 springs from the dealer today. the other day I finished and cleaned the SC case, rotor pack, and snout on the parts washer at work. To my surprise the SC had the upgraded green coupler already inside. I have a new one but will keep this one as a spare. I will be putting the blower together soon. I need to figure out the type of sealant needed to seal it all. the snout does not have a pulley on it. and the snout that has a pulley, the paint is chipping off. I don't want to have to change the oil twice and reseal it all again... so I'm thinking I will just get an MPS and put that on the better snout i have. Which leads me to a possible early mod 3.6" mps. So does it look like i have enough mods for the 3.6" I know scanning is the only way to be sure but with the mod list i have below a 3.6" should be ok right?
L36 bottom end Ported Heads, L76 springs, Si Valves, viaton seals Port matched Lower intake Ported Gen 3 M90 matched to a North star TB. will be starting with a ported L67 TB first and doing a comparison. 3" MAF from my DOHC Speed daddy headers High flow 2.5" exhaust with High flow cat and magnaflow muffler 4t65e with 3.29's 180* stat
104 plugs
No cam or rockers at this time. I'm hoping the ported heads, blower, and headers, full exhaust; will allow me to run the 3.6" also with colder plugs, 180 tstat, and tuning.
