here is a video of her on the road.... just as someone get a missile lock on me! lol the cops are getting pretty aggressive lately.





also today i got a new dash piece so i can install the police instrument cluster, a new starter, and found a set of new headlights at the junk yard. also ordered the other clamp i need and a high flow 3" stainless cat.

the car is almost back where i want it.... that is until the blower goes on.

Coming along GREAT! I love watching a project coming together like this. She's gonna be a major sleeper for sure. "Hey wait, is that whine coming from THAT car?" LOL

LOL yeah. i loved my DOHC since it was a good sleeper... putting down a 14.8 i could beat the stock GTP's in the area.

it is going to be great sleeper and like you said the SC is gonna make it go!

Ok more updates... i found a before video i shot 2 days before the DOHC died. I also have a new video i took yesterday. yesterday I: drilled the stripped bolt from the ICM so i could replace the coil, replaced the hood strut clip, replaced passenger side fender liner, finished the 9C3 police cluster install, replaced the dash trim, and uploaded a new tune that has modified shift tables. here are the goodies:

all that is left for me to do now is:
-Replace the starter as i think the solenoid was bent and the starter doesn't always engage.
-have 3" Cat welded in, and put band clamps on exhaust to seal it all up.
-replace some bulbs in the new police cluster as the LED's i put in are too dim.
-start porting heads and then the LIM and SC
-before SC install removed screen from TB/MAF and use my large external MAF and get that tuned in.

I don't want to be annoying with all the updates, but im excited!!!

Regardless, looks great man...you like the fat low end/mid range of the 3800 vs. the higher revving 3.4?

to be honest... i do miss the DOHC. between my tuning, my ported top end, and the 3.73 gear swap in it that car moved! it sounded more like a high performance exotic then a v6... where as the 3800 with the headers and the same exhaust sound more like a American Muscle V8. with all the work on the DOHC it pulled just as hard down low as the new 3800 does now and would have a crazy top end and that extra 1000 rpm of gear.

I do enjoy the new engine though. Once i get the blower on im sure it will make up for anything i miss from the DOHC. i have a hunch i am saving much more gas with this 3800 vs my DOHC. i was worried cause i was use to driving in 4th at 40mph! the 3.29's arent that low, but with the tq if feels about the same so im sure i'll be saving more gas.

about the cat... its not im a tree huger or anything... i loved to floor my car and puff smoke at the Prius's i would see even with my old engine. its that i dont want to risk a cop giving me a fine for not having one if they pull me over and want to be a dick. also if i autoX the car they do a tech inspection and you need one down here. its a high flow 3" anyway i just got so its not going to do a lot but "i have one" ;-) wink

Porting under way. 4hrs into the heads so far for just the dish. Before and after... well so far. still have to work on the exhaust and intake ports

Ok projects for this weekend... i am going to swap to my AP104's i have from my DOHC as they were on for less then a month and look fine. i may swap to 103 copper when the blower goes on, but the 104's should let me get some more timing on the l36 right now. also, i think im going to put on the l67 injectors from the DOHC and LQ1 MAF. That way i can dial in the tuning for it all right now and i wont have as much to tune in when i do the swap.

i was doing some thinking this morning and feel so lucky! i have read so many stories about people doing swaps or just changing an engine or even repairing a LIM gasket and not being able to start the car! im so lucky it started first try.

I can't imagine going past 104's.

Logic says top swap = 104/tr6.

drop pulley + top swap = 103's.

Yet I find the tr6/104's are still too cold.

ok well the 104's i have are single plat. so will prob need to swap to copper right? i guess im used to my DOHC. they tend to run lean stock and i added a lot of timing. it worked best on 104's and i figured with boost to drop a range. but then again a stock plug on a DOHC is 605's vs the 606 on the 3800s

just to let you know. need to figure out if i need a maf or it's something stupid so i will be ready next week or in 3 to pay and drive down

Ok figure i would update this:

all the little things are fixed. i still have the exhaust clamped as its hard to get time off of work being a Mgr working 6 days... but oh well. will have the 3" Cat i installed when i have it all welded up.

Initial impressions of the L36 3.29's vs the LQ1 and 3.73's i had:
-low end pulls a little better. the 3.73s really closed the gap for the DOHC i had
-the engine seems to really loose steam at around 4200 rpm. the DOHC would just start to make power in this area.
-MPG is up 2-3
-it takes longer for the engine to warm up. my guess is the AL heads on the DOHC.

I have the Police digital cluster installed and running and Aeroforce installed:

Current plans: (ported Heads/IM/GenIII, #105's, 3.8", wideband, lots of timing :-) )
-Im Porting the L67 heads. i currently have the chamber basicly done and the bowls started.
-Port the Blower. cut the V out with Saws-all and dremal out the inlet.
-gasket match the heads to the IM
-Im tempted to take the heads to a shop and have a valve job done. i just dont trust shops down here.
-Install Wideband and disable EGR so i can use it as input for the WB signal
-im thinking of #105 springs
-depending on how long it takes me to finish porting it all i may go with larger valves.
-then a cam. something to make more top end. i really dont want to do all the supporting mods but XP may be in the future for this engine.

Current setup is:
l36 - FWI, L67 injectors, AP 104's, SD headers, full 2.5" exhaust, my LQ1 Maf installed waiting to get plugged in.

But you'll make more on an XP or S1X.


Do you have headers on this thing or manifolds?

Yup it's also in my sig ;). But thank you. Yes SD headers. I'm lowered too but the goosened/ ubend I. It has not bottomed out yet. If I ever need to replace the flex I'll have the u fixed. The s1x who makes them again? I've always just looked at zzp for cams.

Thanks for the comments I love the digital dash too. I figured these cars are getti g fewer and fewer so I better get one before I can't find em.
