Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

Josh is right, do a compression test. Might be worth using that camera device thing (what's the name of it?) that allows you to look inside combustion chamber. If you have access to one... I know I don't.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

Heres what Andrew said, he took my car for a test drive personally:

He said its getting a stupid amount of KR, and he said i also might of cracked a plug as i was installing them.

Plus, he cleared all my codes and no more service engine light, so no more misfire. He ruled out the misfire now because it only missed due to going through the car wash and the engine got soaked. It idles perfect now, but he said hes going to double check the plugs just because.

He said he needs to tune it and it should be good. If it had a chipped piston, im sure Andrew could tell. He knows everything.

I dont want assume that big yet, im going to let him work his magic on Monday and ill update you with the results.

Keep yo fingers crossed.

Andrew is going to check for it. He knows what he is doing. I trust the guy, he will get it fixed.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

Another bad update.

My amp running all of my door speakers went out.

It has a red light on for "protection" and it wont go away. I tried re-wiring everything, checking all lose wires, trying other wires, new wires, checked all fuses and nothing is changing the protection light. I just dont get it. I might just have to buy a new one sometime down the road.

Theres always something wrong...

Have you disconnected all the speaker wires from the amp and turned it on to see if the protect light comes on (Just power, ground, remote and RCA's connected to the amp)? If a speaker has shorted, it will trip the protect as soon as it tries to produce sound.

I sure did, took all speakers wires out. Ran just power, remote, and ground wires to it and still comes up as "protected." I use a distribution block for my ground and power wires due to running two amps and i tried running a new power and ground and remote straight from the original wires coming from the ground off the trunk and the power wire straight from the battery. still nothing.

Now im in the hunt for a new amp. The amp that just broke was an SPL 1200w 4-channel (off brand amp so i couldnt expect much for only $120)

Im running Pionner 5.25 w/ pionner tweeters combo - 35w RMS and kenwood performance series 6x9 110w RMS each i believe.

Any suggestions on an amp to power all door speakers? Im leaning towards this one at the moment.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

the 5 1/4 are in the front doors and 6x9s in the rear deck, what about the smaller speakers beside the 6x9s in the rear deck? im trying to get any idea on speakers to get.

for a amp, ive always had good luck with pioneer amps. get something that will delivery your speakers RMS wattage consistently.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

I had a 720w Pioneer 4 channel previously, it worked quite decently.

Im thinking about this Kenwood cause is powers 60w RMS x 4 @ 4ohms for only $130 which isnt bad at all.

And as for the little speakers in the back next to the 6x9s, just unhook them in general. The new speakers will be much better than the stock ones w/ the little speakers.
