need some tire advice

zeon RS3-a OR the zeon RS3-S (summer only)

Rated #2 by consumer report and are amazing IMO

I just bought them in 245-50-16 but I have 7" wheels

3% speedo difference cant be much as this was a dealer option avail in 2003

track times? (aka empirical evidence)

You could go to the junkyard or if you have a friend with a 99+ grand am with 16" rims put those on your car and see if you like the tire look better. They come with 225/55/16

Dont have any yet. Plus i doubt I would abuse these on a track. Look at the YouTube reviews and google from other users who have purchased them. I spent a week researching Price plus reviews seemed like a great deal. Btw it's an UHP-AS so it will outlast a softer summer-only tire like a KDW

2nd I doubt any advice given in this thread is being taken seriously lol
Either way, I couldn't be happier ;)

225/50/16 is only 25.85" tall aka almost 2" shorter than stock.

Even 225/55/16 is still an inch shorter than stock.

not to mention the most important fact: your speedo will be off by an annoyingly high ammount.

From a 225/60/16 to a 245/50/16 ? Hmmmm. I doubt it's gonna off a lot

60 mph x 3% would 1.8mph faster

Remember then regal gs had 225/60/16 and in 2003 there was an gsx option where it could outfitted with a gsx wheel running 245/50/16s

225/60/16 = 26.63" tall
245/50/16 = 25.65" tall

1" shorter and around 3 mph off at 60 mph. Its going to put more miles on than you are actually going. When you are showing 60mph you are only actuall going about 57.

But HPT can't fix the 1" extra wheel gap it gives you.

I swear this is the first forum I have been on that actually has people suggest going to a smaller diameter tire. I find it absolutely ridiculous. Every other forum I am apart of would never suggest such a thing.

I suggested the tire not the size

I also stated how that tire size is used on the regal gsx with the 7" gsx wheels
They offered a koni/gmpp spring combo to lower the ride too

It's up to the OP to decide if he wants to lower it. All he asked was about if he could run shorter sidewall. That's his problem if he is not lowered and does not care about wheel gap.

Yeah you can tell hpt your tire height

Even if you lowered you should still run stock height tires. Thats the point of lowering.

And I didn't specifically point at one person for suggesting shorter tires. The members forum do it on a regular basis and its utterly ridiculous to even suggest such a thing.

The OP doesn't want the large tire wall and want's to keep the stock rims due to expense. Noone suggested this. It just ended up here in the discussion.
Did you read the entire thread? We're not morons.
If it were my car I would run stock tires until I've saved enough cash for 18 inch rims and low pros. This is not an option for the OP at this moment.

yes, that regal also looked stock. it was lower, hell a lot lower since springs + shorter diam tire, but it still had that nasty wheel gap.

now if you want to run 225/50/16 or even 225/55/16, your speedo will be significantly off (esp. 50 sidewall), the car will drop even more (since diam is lower) and the wheelgap will be HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. its gonna look like a lowrider basically.

I've been on the forum for over a year and I see smaller diameter tires suggested all the time.
