• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

what next?

lol the 280 is in my perfect imagination world I would hope that im atlseat within 10 of 260 but you could be right i wana get it dynoed at some point have no idea what that would cost me tho

I'm a newb, so don't mind me but here it's about $80 to get a baseline of 3 runs on the dyno. What I don't understand is how are getting this thing tuned without putting it on a dyno?

You can have your PCM tuned based on a wideband and a Powertuner. However, you still won't know what gains you saw from the tune without a dyno.

I picked up a Hand-ported/CNC Gen 3 with Gasket-matched LIM and Heads, brackets, boost gauge, trans temp gauge, WBS MPS with 3.8 & 3.4 and all the rest to make it run for $475 shipped. My gaskets, belts, and odds/ends cost about $200, since that is oil-pan to valve-cover. If you know someone who can tune it, and has experience, that should only run about $100. Top Swap's do not need headers, however I would Strongly recommend a set; it's a waste putting a blower on something and not being able to evacuate the spent gases. As for transmission stuff, build a DIY shift kit. Overall, it was cheap for about a 60% WHP gain. You probably have that much tied up in your cam and HV3... I'm saving my N/A stuff for a turbo Intrigue. Just my $0.02

so $775 for a top swap? I Have twice that into the car already tbh tho if I could top swap it for 775 at this point I would, Just sell the hv3 and downpipe and buy headers, but then theres the problem of how well the cam would work with a top swap but idk I see a top swap costing more like 2k

So I think I've finally figured out whats next as far as power goes the only other things Im going to do would be an intake and maybe headers. Then after a shift kit/trans stuff everything else will be based on handling, apperence, and comfort, because I realized this car is never going to be that fast so Id rather go for somthing that looks good and drives good.

so heres a list of what Im thinking on doing over the next 3 months or so

Performance
-shift kit
-intake
-headers

Handling
-Trailing arms
-front and rear Sway bars
-control arms "maybe"
-aluminum F-body duel piston brake kit
-new pads and rotors on the rears

Appearance
-Projectors "maybe" or diffrent bulbs maybe
-gona buy some 40th heat extractors tonight or tomorrow
-Definetly get my windows tinted cause leather gets hot
-maybe some slp tips
-re paint my calipers since im getting new ones

Other than that the only other thing would be get a diffrent head unit with a touch screen and gps but Because Bose thinks its the best thing around its not compatible so thats not gona happen

any advice on products or certain brands would be much appreciated:th_scratchhead:

Headers - Speed Daddy
Intake - Make your own 4" fenderwell from Lowe's or Home Depot
Shift Kit - TransGo from Triple Edge Performance
Trailing Arms - UMI
Front/Rear Sway Bar - Buy the GMPP kit...it comes with Front/Rear Strut tower braces as well
Control Arms...meh...skip 'em
F-Body Upgrade - Hellz yes...but have them powdercoated instead of paint...you'lll thank me later.
Pads - EBC Red Stuff or Hawk pads are great
Projectors...no.
Window Tint...FOR SURE before ANYTHING on this list...except maybe an intake LOL
Exhaust Tips are a great appearance mod...I saw dual outlet tips.

this is pretty much exactly what I think im going to do for like 2 mins after I posted the control arms I thought to my self no thats not happening and the intake will probablly happen right before the tint job its just the garage isnt quite clean enought to get the car all the way in and its been cold or rainy so as soon as the wheater isnt being lame thats happening untill then I got a k&N drop in filter in there so heres the order im thinking it will all go down in

-Fenderwell intake
-shift kit
-tint job
-headers "after I get my headers in Ill have a 2.5 catted dp from zzp for sale so if anyone would like to get one for cheap let me know"
-Trailing arms
-Sway bars
-Fbody upgrade and new rears
-then tips

Then ill be ready for a summer of fun hopefully gas wont be $4 lol

Good work coming up for you.Just one little thing tint before shift kit lol, thats just me.But gas is climbing quick hopefully Libyas probs can be done with im hatin the $3.30 i keep seein :th_angry-teeth:

I know this thread is kinda old but I don't want to make a new one to ask basiclly the same thing.

So I want to either top swap or turbo my car now.

My mods to date that are engine related are.
-gt1 cam
-2.5in zzp catted downpipe
-9 in open cone
-hv3 "would have to sell if I did top swap"
-180 t-stat

So other than just a turbo kit or top swap what do I need to do so my car can safely run with it. I know I need to atleast get a front p log or something.

Also if I did a top swap with and ic what pulley do you think I could run? I was assuming just start on the bigger side and work my way down...

But yeah let me know what you think and stuff

Well it seems you have put a nice chunk of money into your car already.I would just save for a turbo setup since you have the hv3. You'll make more power and the gt1 cam might work better for that then a top swap. But the ultimate decision is in your hands man
