Gt vs. Sho

Yeah with 4 cams, 4 valves/cylinder and Ti-VCT (twin independent variable camshaft timing). But still not fast...
Son you are on drugs, the new mustang V6 does 0-60 in roughly 5.1 and quarter mile in 13.7, ya that's not fast :th_laugh-lol2:ok. It's stock all motor no blower and it would whoop on a modded gtp. Not saying I like the car just saying it isn't slow:th_yawning:

eh... how modded is a big factor here. a 3.4" setup gtp runs mid to high 13's depending on the driver.

either way, the new v6's that are coming out are impressive. gm and ford are both over 300hp on motor where 10 years ago it took a blower to hit 240.

13's aren't fast, they're quick.

LS1 F body does 13 flat on street tires.

Slicks = high to mid 12's.

And that car costs how much again?

X2 this is whats impressive! 300 Hp and not getting raped for insurance and gas cost sound like a better deal to me:th_thumbsup-wink:

That's all I'm saying too. I just find it odd that people buy the V6 versions of these cars. If you're going to spend that much get the damn V8.

Son, a GTP is a car of the 90's. I would sure hope that by now stock V6's will put out 300 hp N/A. It's called advanced technology. And 13.7 is NOT fast. Quick but not fast.

And another thing, do you honestly think that GM could only muster out a mere 240 crank HP out of a blown 3800 V6? Get real lol. These cars were so underpowered and detuned it's pathetic. They didn't even come IC'd from the factory. That right there is a HUGE factor.

agreed with buying th v8, you better bet i'd be getting top of the line stuff in a car that's designed to be top of the line. a v6 camaro or mustang just doesn't make sense to me. you might as well buy a taurus.

and yeah, gtp's were detuned and the IC got taken off of them, but this new technology coming out has the same idea as a blower/IC, to make more power with less displacement. any company would be hard pressed to get close to 300 with a NA pushrod v6 without any vvt or new magic. IIRC honda got to 260 with the accord, but i can't think of anything else

virtually nothing. a tune just kinda makes your car realize that it has performance mods and lets it take full advantage of them. without any, it might run smoother and shift better, which are good things in themselves, but you won't see enough power gain to justifiy paying for the tune

V6 stang fast? LOL

:th_shakinghead2:

I have no clue as to which car is actually faster between a 99 mustang v6 and a 99 GP GT. And I don't really care to look it up as they are both slower then my wife's boring SUV. I do know that 99 v6 mustangs were rated at 190 hp, and your GT was what 175?

And I don't need to talk about any mustang v6 05 or newer, I'm sure you don't want to hear about it either.

I know you never said your GT was fast, as I'm sure this is going to be your next response. I just sometimes find it funny when guys talk **** about cars that are higher up on the food chain then their own.

Good kill on the SHO though, IMO the "bubble" v8 SHO's sucked compared to the v6 models of the early 90's.

Then later it magically became 200.

But i think that was the same time they changed the intake from the double 90* bend style to the nice smooth bend style.

Still slow.

Gotta repeat that fact :D

Ahh, one car bashing another........since ive had both...

SHO's
89-91 Gen 1's \
92-95 Gen 2's /-both had the Yamaha v6
96-99 Gen 3's - Had the ford/Yamaha V8's

They were never designed to be "fast" but they do verry well when you add boost to the mix. However no GTP ever made in the history of man will take a SHO on in handling. it wont happen.. there are SHO owners who own GTP's (including myself) that will back up this statement. there isnt a SHO (less the 2010's) stock for stock that will 1/4 mile with the GTP.. your talking what 260 hp vs 220? yeah i think the GTP has the edge.

As for ther 96-99 SHO's.. it was designed by a woman, what do you expect.. it was sold as an executive express :th_shakinghead2:

Ok, the bath tub sho's were dogs way to heavy and the motor was a Ford. The 89-95 SHO's would beat up a gt's easily i had an 89,91,95 and loved them all. beat mustang gt's with ease 98's and lower. wish I woulda kept my 95 but didn't have room for it after I bought the 04 compg.

No the motor was Yamaha

Maybe if John Force was driving and the street tires are DOT drag radials, and the track has tons of compound down and is at sea level, and you deep stage the car, along with removing the spare tire and jack...then and only then maybe:th_laugh-lol3:
