Spanked by 4Runner

Yes its true I got OWNED lol. Heres the story, guy I work with is a car guy. His DD is a 99 4Runner 3400 V6 that he just bought. He is sick of hearing about me and talking about modding my car (cause I havent done anything to it yet) Soooo he goes and buys a TRD s/c for the 4Runner......... DAMN that thing moves. We stopped at a set of lights and I asked him to race, he laughed and said "are you sure?" Of course I wanna see how fast that thing is. Light goes green and he pulls 2 cars on me immediatly, I was so stunned I completly botched my launch and just spun, by the time I got traction he was wasy 3-4 cars ahead. I was sick, obviously he was in 4 wheel dr and yes he does have losses but it would have been pretty hard for me to real him in eventhough I was. JFI if you see a 4Runner don't get too cocky.

those trucks r bad@$$. had a friend with 1 bone stock and ran another friend with a modded wrx and ran side by side. i dont under estimate them.

well wat type of pontiac u have. base model or supercharged???? and if supercharged then . . . pffft . . . i don't know then.

Gotta watch diesel pickups too. That's my next purchase. 06 Duramax. Crew cab, 4x4, automatic. $700 in mods = 13 second truck that gets 21mpg.

Duramax sux. Cummins FTW! Yeah the 4 runners are pretty torquey even from the factory.

I've owned 02 LB7 duramax (01-early 04) and LBZ (06-early 07). Both auto crew cab 4x4s. LB7 = FTL due to injector BS. LLY = late 04-05 = damn good engine and injector issue fixed, but lacks the 6spd auto(still 5spd). LBZ = FTW due to 6spd auto allison, injector issues fixed and VGT. If you want a great truck, engine, and tranny combo, LBZ duramax is the best. Cummins engine is the best. Everything surrounding it is crap. 08 cummins = FTL. Turbos are junk. (all previous models up until, 03, tranny's are junk) 94-02, everything is junk except for the engine. 03-07, tranny is junk, but you get common rail injection. As far as tranny's go I'm talkin about the automatics. The 6 spds in rams are fine but are only good for the dyno. Drag racing, they are FTL. In a truck, drag racing with a manual is a waste. We won't talk about when I entered the local sled pull with my 06 with 3 mods and got disqualified but pulled the farthest against an entire field of dodges. I shoulda took the trophy........but.... BS. Not to bump off Cummins, but the ultimate pickup would be a GMC truck with Dana 60 front end, Caterpillar engine, and an Allison trans. I'd love to see it.

His sig says Comp G what does that tell you?

yo ima need you to calm down. its human nature to miss 5 little words. and if thats the case alls you have to do is quote it. not put all that extra $hit, its not that hard to put supercharged and get over it. and believe you me im not going to be the last person who ask's questions like this so relax.

Just once but I did tell him when the weather gets better I want to line up again. And its all a drivers race those things are known to run 14.9. He also has a TL that i wanna line up against. Forget his 11.4 sec Integra lol

Agreed on there, Dmax is good if you don't wanna go too crazy, but after 600 or so hp the connecting rods become the weak link in the motor. Don't get me wrong the duramax's are good trucks to turn into 13 second trucks for cheap.

Didn't some of them come stock with the SC?

I thought that was only the Xterra?

Also keep in mind that if he knows what he is doing, putting the transfer case into 4-low will absolutely spank you up to almost 60mph in most cases...they just have to be a short race. :th_mischievious:

That's why you go with the 99-early 2000 powerstroke. They have forged connecting rods, or just build a motor.

24valve with p pump = win. We just have to get it to hold together after a pull.

The Nissan Frontier "Desert Runner" model came with a S/C'd V6, but it was still a pig. The newer Frontiers have a lot more grunt. The desert runner was featured in an issue of Truck Trend back in 2001 or 2002 (pitted against the S-10 extreme v6, the Dodge Dakota R/T, and also the Toyota S-Runner)

The newer frontiers, if S/C'd, are pretty darn respectable. :th_thumbsup-wink:

i had a diesel truck pull up next to me at the light in my camaro, obviously was modded, couple guys in the truck were egging me on like lets see how slow that car is. not sure how they thought they could beat me with my dumped exhaust and cam loping like crazy. we both took off and i was 6 cars ahead of him by time i hit 3rd gear. i wasnt used to cocky drivers with a big azz truck, weird. lol
