HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was taking off the stock 3.8" pulley to put on a 3.4" and everything was going fine until it came time to take off the 3.8". I put on the pulley puller and it wasn't a traditional one but instead one with 2 claw like things but i figured it would work. So i put it on the pulley and started to turn it. Instead of pulling the pulley off, it bent it... A LOT, prob because the pressure wasn't evenly distributed throughout the whole pulley but instead two points. So I turned the puller 90 degrees started to pull again and that started to bend. Now it kinda looks like a wobbly square and hasn't moved and inch. So now i cant even use the car cuz the pulley is bent so much that I cant use it and I cant use the new one because I cant get the old one off! ANY ideas on what to do??

leave the belt off of the SC until you can get your hands on a puller designed for these pulleys.........it will not run great, but would still be driveable.......fwiw. If you have access to another vehicle, I would run that........sounds like you had too much pressure on the outside of the pulley and that puller was not designed to put pressure behind the pulley near the snout.......If you can't wait you would have to fab something up to put behind the pulley that is supported as far around as you can get it and as close to the center of the pulley as you can(it takes a lot of pressure to get these off) so make sure it something pretty heavy duty. then you can try and pull it if the puller is heavy duty enough...........a lot of work. Should have just gotten the proper tool first. Several vendors offer these if you do not know, both for purchase and for rental. Let us know if you need anything further.....

Yeah i guess i just figured a pulley is a pulley and that a pulley puller is a pulley puller and had no idea that the pulley would bend so much. I borrowed the puller from a neighbor who works on his car everyday and works for toyota as a mechanic and he said it would work so i just took his word for it, i guess neither one of us would have guessed that it would bend.

Did you use the actual pulley puller tool MADE for the supercharger pulley? If not...that's why. You need a supercharger pulley puller tool, not a 2 or 3 jaw puller.

I used a two jaw, but i wound up just taking a saw and cutting the pulley off! lol Seriously I used a sawz all and cut it till it popped off and there was no damage to the shaft at all put the new one on and its much faster!

Well...consider yourself lucky. Very. I wonder if the vibrations from the saw (which would have been considerable) will cause any long or short-term effects??

Jesus christ...just sell that car...you've done enough damage to it already...cutting pulley's off with sawzalls OMFG.

lol well I bent the pulley so much that it wasnt coming off with any kind of puller, And I only use a sawzall to cut most of the way down, then a dremel to ever so carefully cut it without damaging the shaft. Plus the car wasnt going anywhere cuz it couldnt move so i couldnt take it to a shop and everything turned out fine!

Still you could have saved all that trouble and rented the right tool.
fawk me. thats what im sayin. holy ****e. both of you guys could have saved urself alot of trouble and rented the actual tool. it takes ALOT of pressure to get these pulleys off and obviously using a 2 or 3 jaw puller is fail. thats what you get when people are just too damn anxious to get these small pullies on.

and what are your supporting mods to drop to a 3.4? or are we going to have a "guys, I just blew my motor, now what?" thread in a couple of weeks. Do you have a scan tool? what kind of KR do you have?

I have a tool and a pulley but havent even touched mine yet due to not wanting to slap it on untill i can get a tune at the same time. i personally dont want to run a smaller pulley without a proper tune to back it up. Seriously a little research would have saved u alot of trouble! hopefully theres no damage of any sort.

I pulled off a pulley off once like that it will bend it to hell and back, just keep going. IT WILL COME OFF! i know it looks scary but it will come off. You will hear a loud pop, dont worry you didnt brake anything thats just the pulley making a move. Thats how we had to do it to my buddys COMPG. Couldnt find the right puller. The stock pulley will be ruined, but at least you can roll around with the new one..
