Supercharger pulley came off

you said "it had new coupler Could the needle bearings be the reason it was so noisy?? Are they hard to replace "

see if you can snap the shaft left and right, listen feel for play. never heard of a bad coupler busting a pulley off.

Like I said there is no play in the shaft at all **** was just noisy lol no play n left right n out or up down moment

Im interested to know what the shaft diameter is, as we all know it should be tampered but looking at the photo for awhile it looks like the pulley was spinning on the shaft, but really can't make any sense of it because there is no sign that the blower locked up

The vented bolt is an early year thing. Just 97-99 I believe, you don't need it, later gp's didn't even have it. If your pulley is held on by that, you've already got issues.

So does it need a bolt in the end or not lol?? I'll pull the snout n check bearings, but ever since it had been on my car since last year it always sounded like rocks in blower but couple n snout were new from zzp

No, doesn't need the bolt in the end. Most people actually take those bolts out, and replace with a little plastic plug.

Ok good, someone mentioned earlier something about the pulley cracking or breaking is that possible? It was a press on 3.4 zzp

No. The bolt on mine does not hold on my pulley or mps hub at all. I don't have a bolt at all. Just a plug. The snouts vary over the years how they vent. Some have a porus stone some have a plug

i had a press on 3.4, the middle is rather thick. but i guess anything is possible. the shaft does look like the pulley spun on the shaft.

Honestly, never heard of this happening . But anything is possible, I could see it happening if it was an aluminum hub. But a steel press on pulley? Eh, little more doubtful that it cracked.

Edit, or is it an aluminum press on?

That bolt doesn't do much of anything other than be a breather. It's standard for ZZP/intense to stick a plastic plug on it. I've been running without that breather for years and never had a problem.

My guess is the pulley cracked X amount of time ago and finally just gave up and split.

Sounds like the rotors are hitting if that is the sound you have been hearing

First I would take the blower off and tear it down, turn the front drive by hand to make sure it is turns all free and well then check out the rotors (grab the right rotor and left rotor and try wiggling them) this will show how much play you have in them if to much you may have to A. Get a new rotor Pack or B. Replace the rotor bearings, this also gives you a change to check out the needle bearings

Where can I get rotor bearings? , can I dive with snout off if I bolt rotor pack in and are the needle bearings n housing or on end of rotor pack?

needle bearings are near the TB side. I thought ZZP sells the bearings. You'll need to press them in after you get them out.

You'll be fine driving without the belt/sc pulley.
