Thanks for all the compliments guys. Brought it to its first car show of the season today. It got a lot of attention, people got a kick out of it for sure. Clutch seems to be getting better and I was able to do some WOT pulls today. Nothing crazy, still need to work out some bugs and tune but man does it pull hard!

You mean another set of brackets to run the alternator and tensioner like that? That could be a possibility, although I'm almost certain it would not work with the steel oil pan and motor mount setup.

I honestly think its necessary if you plan on autocrossing one of these cars. All that weight and high rpms with no cooler and you're gonna have a bad time.

I honestly think its necessary if you plan on autocrossing one of these cars. All that weight and high rpms with no cooler and you're gonna have a bad time.

I run in the Mohawk-Hudson region. They start next weekend and they don't run too often, this region of SCCA is a bit weak (and I won't be able to make it, it is my birthday and the car isn't 100% yet). What region do you run?
 
I run in the CNY region, but I might venture over your way for an event this year. My buddy moved out that way and they hold them a few miles from his new house. Let me know if you plan on going to any, I'll try to hit one up.


The car has been running great. Still some bugs to work out but it pulls hard and the clutch holds well.

Before I'm considering this year's build to be done I still need to:
-Double check MAF and TPS wiring
-Wire in boost gauge
-Lengthen downpipe
-Install wbo2
-Wire Quad Tails
-Refinish wheels/get tires


I still would like to get some of the bodywork fixed up this year too.

Hit up a local car show with a few buddies. People were looking confused as to why I was there until I opened the hood. My friend Shaun got a great pic of Steve's e36 and the Imp.

After the show I went to Dan's house to test fit some wheels he has for sale. I am a huge fan of them and would be their proud new owner if they had about 10mm more offset, but because they poke too much for my taste, I passed.

So I ended up picking up these off of craigslist. Going to strip them, polish them, and re-clear them for now. Might get them powdercoated in the future.

Sweet car man! I love it. Keep us posted, love watching this thing take shape. Best Impala I've ever seen, that's for sure.
 


They are 19x8, 25mm offset. Which puts them like an inch out from the fenders in the front. I don't want stretched tires, massive camber, etc.. And this needs more than rolled fenders.

I plan on doing quite a bit of suspension work, but I think I need to find a new job first. Still paying off this year's build. If I'm going to go through the work of modifying suspension components/fenders for wheel fitment, its going to be for a wider wheel than 8". The SS wheels were cheap and they will get me into something with less sidewall for now, but I certainly won't be keeping them forever.
 


Very jelly man. My swap should be started in the next month. Just waiting on person to move out of the new place so i have a spot to do it. Any chance you have or can get videos of this thing in action at the track?
 


Pilots will just scrub off doing auto x and they will do it fast in a heavy car.

BFG Comp 2's, those bridgestones or something similar with a harder compound will last more runs but overall your tire life is going to be really short. Tread ratings are very low for any high performance tire.
 
I just ordered the S-04's. They'll be here on Tuesday.

Looking at the reviews on these, they perform close to a re-11 or a Pilot Super Sport in the dry but perform better in the wet and last quite a bit longer. Definetly a compromise (price, treadwear, wet/dry performance, comfort) but I think it is the right tire for my intentions. If I had a set of dedicated wheels/tires for autocross I would go with something else for autocross and something else for street but I think I will be happy with these as a compromise for both.
