KR with XP Cam

OI,

I've been chasing some KR since a while. I've got my PCM retuned a few times with different logs. (Yeah I figure Torque isn't the best app for logs.)

Mods are : ('04 Comp-G)
XP Cam (LS6 Springs / LS7 Lifters(I know not really a mod.))
3.5" Pulley
3" Catless downpipe
Powerlog
Ported Rear manifold (Just a wee bit.)
DIY Intake with that 9" spectre filter(Less than a year old), MAF gets a clean up a year, at least.
Not a mod, but heads were fluxed and decked, valves had jobs done and some were replaced, when I did my cam.

I have AL104 plugs gapped @ 0.054 and a 180* T-stat. (Less than a year old. Replace them @ about 15-20k KM or so.)
Rev 5 or 6 of my tune with Overkill.

I don't think anything is hitting anywhere.

Car puts 2-3 car length on a 3.4" Intercooled/ZZP Headers 2006.

If I remember well, I had less KR before winter, then now after winter, I seem to have a bit more.
Sometimes I have none @ WOT, sometimes I have some at the top of a fast highway merge @ around 110-120kph.
Cruising on the highway, when I hit a steep hill and it stays in 4th, boost gets capped at around 4 PSI and I see blips of 1-2*KR

KR most of the time seems to be between 0 and 2* ish. Sometimes even @ 10 PSI of boost, there is none, sometimes @ just 7-8 there is 1-2*.

Here's a log I saved with KR highlighted in Orange. Highway log, you can see where I hit hills, and where I merge.)

Any clues?
(I know some guys around here have similar set ups as mine, IE, no full headers, but Cam and plog/dp that runs 3.3/3.4 pulleys.)

sounds like a few minor tweeks are needed. the KR when in 4th going up a steep hill, is the converter still locked? if so, thats prolly why and the additional heavier load while in boost is causing it. either lower the timing in the timing table where you're getting KR or slightly richen up the MAF area where its affected. i think the former is better.
the couple degrees of KR while not in full boost, again sounds like just needs a slight increase in fuel in that particular MAF range.

I was gonna say before FST posted...this sounds almost like a TCC lockup issue.

This is also, even though I know it's not easy, why I say in-car tuning is always the best route to take.

That's what I think it might be, because I know I can go all the way up to 6.2k ish RPM and max the boost @ all around between 10-11psi depending on temperature and see 0.0*.
I am working with Will to get Rev 7 done too. Trying to really hunt it down.

I really need to get myself a tuner after 5 years, but uh, HPT is out of my budget (Tax season woes.) I saw those AVT boxes for 260$, are those working right with DHP?

do you have a scanner? if so, on a budget, get a AFC which'll be a band-aid fix.....(i got one for sale that is connected with the IAT ;-) laying around )....

I did realize that you were on revision 7, if you aren't happy with your tune, coordinate with Will and let him fix it.

less kr before winter than now really stands out to me!!! ill bet your still on sh1t winter blend fuel. unless you guys get sh1t winter blend year round lol!!!

I've been using Torque Pro since 2010-2011 or something. No IAT on 2004+ by the way.

Oh don't worry I always communicate with Will for all related to tunes and send him scan logs.

Well I'd take a wild guess and say we're still on winter gas.
(Still freezes at night here.)

I am already checking up with Will for Rev 7-8.

But I am pretty sure I shouldn't really be seeing KR with my mods, at most smallish blips on TCC Lockup / shifts.
TCC Lock KR going up hill shouldn't worry me, right?

Oi, I figure, I went with Will's recommendation at the time, not going to bother changing them now though. They've been on 2 years so far. I don't really feel any valve float. Anyways, not the main concern of this thread.

Thanks for the input, I do really appreciate hearing people advice, but I've been around a while too. My set up is not optimal and I know. (Plog/dp - LS6 springs, etc etc..)

IIRC, Alex has a stock timing chain setup, so 130s are not a possibility, though I'm confident it wouldn't magically fix his KR either.

I'd like to see a tighter gap on the plugs.

Exhaust isn't optimal but 8-10psi is not pushing a lot of exhaust flow either.

LT fuel trims still need some tweaking at part throttle, but adding some fuel to WOT didn't cure all (no wideband readings are available to see actual AFR).

Small 1-2* KR blips are high load low rpm are not a big concern.

I'd be interested to see what the KR is like on a DHP or HPT scanner. I know from experience that Aeroforce KR readings on 04s are not logged correctly. No idea re: Pro Torque.

I had KR while cruising with my comp g so I turned off the knock sensors below 2,200 rpm and it was fine for about 2 years. I then swapped my trans and put a new tc in at the same time and turned my knock sensors back on at the stock settings and no more KR. 130# springs are perfectly fine on a stock chain so long as the idle is bumped up a little. I ran 30K miles on 130# springs and you could barely catch a nail in the dampener when I pulled it out.

^what do you mean by this will? are the KR values not accurate or what?

Had a customer say they had 5-6* of KR cruising on the highway, that was on their aeroforce. When I plugged in my HPTuner to compare, it had 1-2* in the same spot, plugged the Aeroforce back in 5-6*.
