I have train horns on my truck. When I drive it, I do this. They usually drop their phone, grab the wheel with both hands and look around for a sec to see where it came from. Once they realize it was me, they avoid all eye contact and try to get away from me ASAP. They tend to have a look on their face like they just soiled their pants. It gives me great joy to provide this service.

The best was...... I was following my wife to the dealership one morning before work to drop her Camaro off. Some db in a ford explorer was texting with one hand and holding a large starbucks coffee/latte/ whatever in the other. He had managed to get between her and I. He about rear ended her 3 times when traffic slowed down. I blasted him with the horns and he just set his phone down briefly so he could shoot me the bird. That was when I realized he didn't get it. I was able to get around him in another lane and get in front of him. Traffic got moving up to about 40 and I brake checked him hard. I saw him drop his phone and his starbucks in his lap so he could grab the wheel to steer onto the shoulder while he was braking. I waved and kept on. I imagine he had fun explaining to everyone at work why his white dress shirt, tie, etc were all covered in coffee. I doubt he told the truth.
 


Only reason I ever touch my phone if I'm driving is to usually just hit shuffle on my music. And I know my phone well enough that I don't need to look at it
 
People who cause accident's like this one should be forced to drive small vehicles like a ford festiva or honda civic since the obviously cannot handle driving a large vehicle. At least they can't cause as much damage with a small vehicle. Plus they can actually see behind them. I hate SUV's. They are so pointless, If you need something to haul your litter of children around in get a van.
 
Yeah, I use my phone when I drive just for bluetooth. And I don't even have to unlock it to change songs. Just turn the screen on and hit skip and I don't even have to look at it to do it.
 
This is the reason I won't get on a bike. People just don't pay enough attention when they are driving. 90% of them act as if they are the only people on the road.
 


its pathetic... i see it all the time... guys shaving or women putting that eye make up on is just insane

I know someone who did this once. Last winter there had just been a big ice storm and the highways all had literally an inch of ice on them. Some guy was following like 15 feet behind the car in front of him at about 50 mph when there was no one else on the road and the left lane was open. The front driver gave a nice progressive brake check; the guy in back slammed on his brakes and swerved, corrected, corrected again, and again - then the slow motion spinout into a big fluffy snowbank. The driver in front drove to work with a smile on his/her face.

No ****, SUV = sports utility vehicle, they are meant for you and your buddies to go out hunting fishing camping with not taking your kids to soccer practice. Soccer moms are the reason they don't make any 2 door SUVs anymore.

I think if everyone rode a scooter or motorcycle for a few weeks, not only would they realize how vulnerable other users on the road are, but also what it is like to ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION TO ONLY ONE THING - DRIVING.

And I need a bigger cupholder, because trying to hold that, shift my manual and light my cigarette while texting my BFF is just EXHAUSTING!
