F-body brakes?

Awesome well if you don't have the f-bodies then got for the whole swap. you should be able to find it for about 400 shipped. it'll jsut take some time looking for it.

NO i dont i just picked up the complete front from a junk bird from a guy on craigslist and he sold me brackets, calipers, pads, and rotors for $80. Plus they only have a few thousand on them. Practically new and not a speck of rust and he pulled them off.

Thanks for the suggestion "PISS OFF". Maybe what I was saying was read through and you get a lot of info on the Rear GXP setup along with the fact theres pics posted to show the do fit under stock rims. Sry if it came off as being a dick. I have read the tread title btw.

Personally...I wouldn't have apologized for crap like that. Some people just need to learn their place.

Never ran the Front GXP brakes so im not completely sure how good they are, im gonna reach out on a limb and say there better just since the rotor is an inch larger than the f-bodies, but ill say this your not gonna be disappointed in the F-body brakes.

How much of an improvement would the 12" single piston brake upgrade be from wbodystore. $139 for the fronts. not including rotors. How would that compare to the GXP upgrade?

First off if you not running a 17" rim year round forget about the GXP front upgrade and second you can get a set of used loaded F-body Calipers for cheaper that the 12" single piston upgrade. Go with a set of used F-body calipers

NO!

The sleeves are a horrible idea. If you go F-Body, just tap the brackets. PLEASE, please do not use the sleeves.

He stated it perfectly and i know from experience this is a bad idea. Bracket bolts come loose and then u become SOL. I was luck with only my front bolt coming out so I could still drive forward an use my brakes.

SLEEVES = CALIPER COMING LOOSE

In theory it was a good idea...but not a well thought out plan of attack that was executed well. No matter if you use non removable loc-tite and all the power you can dish out with a cheater bar tightening the bolts...they will come loose, and like said above your stranded sometimes SOL on the side of the road.

Drill them out and tap them, or don't do the mod IMO. Brakes are very important to have...more so than any, good reliable front ones.

yea i'll just tap em... no big deal

I'm hitting up crazy rays on wednesday with my brother, hopefully i can find a set

if I find more than one I'll probably grab them too and sell them on here for cheaper than what people would have to pay

wow...I have NEVER had any issues with my F-Body brake setup using bushing/sleeve setup. I got my bushings from MCMasters IIRC...have no clue what the part number is/was but they are a bi-metal bushing. I have had my brakes on my car for approximately 70,000 miles now with no issues...and about half pad life left on them. (cryoed rotors and ceramic pads)

This is the first I have heard of this being a problem...guess next time I change my oil I will check the bolts for good measure...weird...if they are loose I will report back and let you all know.

Yea I guess if you've done it then it's too late, but I might as well tap em and cancel out any chance of the bolts loosening...
