F-body brakes?

No i just saw u said u had a 85 camaro and figured u used the brakes off that and put them on a GP. Guess my assumption was wrong. Thanx for the explanation though. Also for all those wondering about the clearance issue of the rear GXP setup. Im gonna have my stock rim on my car the tues of next week so ill snap some pics so you can see. Its pretty damn close i mean like maybe 3MM.

Also if anyone decides to do this swap be very very mindful of the break line. Esp the stock GP rubber line. Make sure they are not rubbing because they probably will. I found that one out the hard way going down a hill. went to test the brakes to make sure the rears didn't lock before the front(which they do not, they lock at the same time) and the pedal hit the floor:th_sick2:. Luckily i was close to home and had a very good parking break lol. Take my word though check the brake lines check, the brake lines, and lastly check the brake lines. Right now im using a spring you can find in the help section of any auto store. Its a throttle return spring. The got it hocked to the tubular trailing are and then attached to the hose to keep it away from the tire.

Real fast if someone can answer, i just bought a complete front brake upgrade from a guy with a 99 bird.
I seen there was no mod for the rear of the same car, but should i go ahead and by the rotors, pads, calipers and brakets off the rear of the firebird to. I was just curious if the rear rotors and pads had the same part number, but i would just need a different caliper and bracket to fit the GP.. any idea

That is scary close...
I wonder how well the caliper can vent the heat with the rim obstructing the top opening of the caliper like that. Good thing its the rear at least...but I would feel more comfortable if they were used with a larger rim personally.

F-Body rear brakes do us no good. Sorry.
Yea I actually Run 18" verde 5ive's till it starts snowing and that is a good point on the venting. I never really thought of that. All that heat probably transfers to the rims cuz their aluminum, more than usual.

I know i read the rears didnt work, wasnt asking answered q's. I just figured they may have been the same but brackets and calipers. But everyone just said get it all from a GXP. And i asked cause back in the day monte calipers, pads and rotors were all the same f-body, w body. a-z body...haha. So i figured id ask to see if they still were, guess alot more changed in the 80's than i though. lol

If they're not touching the rim, then they're not too close. We've ground down brake calipers on Camaro's just to fit rims on them before.
Thanks for the suggestion "PISS OFF". Maybe what I was saying was read through and you get a lot of info on the Rear GXP setup along with the fact theres pics posted to show the do fit under stock rims. Sry if it came off as being a dick. I have read the tread title btw.
I had to get mine from from Michigan and I live in Pa. I went through car-parts.com and searched for the GXP front calipers, I found out most places will sell them as the whole setup only. If have to go that route you need to run 17" rims in ur gonna be using the Fronts.
