Those pictures are awful. What's worse is that everyone calls that "HDR". Someone needs to define High Dynamic Range because that's certainly not it. It may have been made with HDR methods, but HDR is 3 images: 1 regular exposure, 1 with a step lower exposure, and 1 with a step higher expose. That's like 10 steps.

I hate when people overdo HDR. He probably has an HDR "setting" on his phone and did that.

If you really want to do HDR, do at least 3 exposures, using a tripod, and layer the things and do it the right way.
