• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Won't start after cam install

Brandon..

Please try what we chatted about.
ICM harness to ensure it's getting the right signals from the sensors.

Clean and dry plugs. I'd like to see you have the plugs out overnight and or while you do the harness. That way they aren't fuel fouled and not throwing a spark.

Unplug the maf and try to start the car wtih a little throttle.

Pull the balancer to ensure that it is on properly and somehow isn't misaligned off the keyway and it didn't destroy the key.

Check for bad/bent pins on the crank sensor.

If you are postive your firing order is correct and when you said first coil you meant the top one, then it shouldn't be anything other than one of the above. If you have spark and fuel, which you say you do...it's something timing wise and likely the harness or a sensor.

Yep. I'm gonna do all this tonight.

That motor rebuilding grease. I put it on the cam lobes, end of pushrods etc. If I can hold my finger on the spark plug hole, it's in time? I'm confused. Wouldn't the compression stroke air push your finger off?

Ya, I just reread what I typed, and I had it backwards. I was tired, still am, but I fixed it. Then I scrolled down, and saw somebody had caught it, and questioned that. LOL good job my eagle eyed reader. :th_winking:

~F~

I replaced the ICM harness, dried the spark plugs, re-checked the plug wires, and even tried unplugging the MAF sensor. Didn't fix it...

I went to go pull the crank pulley off with the puller, and the f*cking thing doesn't want to budge. I stripped the main bolt on the puller. What the hell is going on? My god.

have you bleed yet? nothing goes right for me unless im bleeding. paper towel and tape wrapped around a knuckle will do....

sounds like you destroyed the keyway. the pulley should come right off if it's been off recently with the right puller. the only reason it would be stuck is if you smashed the key in there and it is stuck.

So how so I get it off??

oh snap....DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL A COUPLE OF THE SENIOR GUYS ON HERE THINKS ITS OK TO but could he use a rubber hammer to tap it or even a hammer and a piece of hardwood as to not damage the pulley?
